A 74-year-old Filipino man presented with new-onset partial-complex seizures. Eight months earlier he had a subtotal gastrectomy for adenocarcinoma classified as T1 N0M0 stage IA. He was irradiated. Two months later, he became confused and developed rhythmic, seizure-like movements of the extremities. A head CT revealed a 2 cm. right frontal lobe mass. A Plastipore (porous polyethylene) Total Ossicular Replacement Prosthesis gave an excellent initial hearing result which was maintained for 14 years. Hearing then began to deteriorate and revision surgery showed disintegration of the prosthesis and a defect in the stapes footplate. Electrosurgical ablation of the endometrium is a therapeutic choice for those patients having abnormal uterine bleeding. When ablation is followed by a hysterectomy, tissue damage due to thermal effect can be seen. From a total of 350 women with endometrial ablation, 12 required subsequent hysterectomy.
