Esophagopleural fistula (EPF) is a rare complication often associated with underlying esophageal malignancies. We present the case of a 64-year-old male who presented with left-sided pyopneumothorax and was diagnosed with EPF secondary to esophageal carcinoma. Imaging studies revealed a hydropneumothorax with an esophageal-pulmonary fistula communicating with the pleural cavity. The diagnosis was confirmed through computed tomography (CT) scan with oral contrast administration, highlighting the utility of this modality in diagnosing EPF. Endometriosis is a benign gynecological disorder associated with pelvic pain and infertility, primarily affecting women of reproductive age. Thoracic endometriosis affects the pulmonary parenchyma or pleura. We report the cases of two patients with pleural endometriosis who presented with recurrent pneumothorax. In both cases, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the chest showed right hydropneumothorax and well-defined, rounded nodules on the pleural surface in the right hemithorax. The case report of a patient known to have metastatic renal cancer and right main bronchus obstruction is presented. During an episode of haemoptysis, the patient expectorated a large fragment of tissue, which proved to be metastatic renal cell cancer. Hydatid cyst is an infectious disease which is quite frequent in Morocco. Pelvic and pancreatic locations of this parasitic infection are rare, namely exceptional. Nutritional supplements administered through flexible small caliber feeding tubes are an increasingly popular substitute for parenteral hyperalimentation. Small and large caliber nasogastric tubes can inadvertently pass into the tracheobronchial tree, even in the presence of an endotracheal tube with an inflated cuff. The authors present a case of the tension pneumofluidothorax followed by a right pleural cavity empyema resulting from a rupture of the oesophagus during a major gastrectasy. The gastric dilation was indicated for a pyloro-duodenal stenosis following a duodenum-preserving resection of the pancreatic head, which was completed six years ago for a chronic pancreatitis. The symptoms developed fully shortly after lifting a heavy weight.

Tube thoracostomy is a standard therapy for a number of pulmonary disorders. The procedure is associated with a certain incidence of morbidity related to the technique of insertion, the patient population selected, and the length of time the tube remains in place. Hydatid cyst is rarely mentioned among the causes of pneumothorax in text-books or monographs, especially those written in English. Five examples of tension pneumothorax secondary to ruptured hydatid cyst of the lung are reported: the mechanism of this tension effect and helpful diagnostic points are discussed. We think that surgical correction is the only satisfactory treatment of tension pneumothorax due to ruptured hydatid cyst: surgery is advocated in any suspected cyst as soon as it is discovered so as to avoid any such serious complication.

A 64-year-old man, smoker, was diagnosed with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis (RA) for 13 years. He was being treated with methotrexate (MTX) and hydroxychloroquine. He presented to the emergency department due to coughing and hemoptysis over the past month. Chest X-ray revealed a nodular lesion in the right lung. Chest CT scan identified several pulmonary nodules in both lungs and a right hydropneumothorax. Cultures were negative for any infectious causes. Histology of pulmonary nodules favored a diagnosis of rheumatoid lung nodules. He stopped MTX and started baricitinib.

A case of right bronchial rupture demonstrated by computed tomography (CT) is reported. Chest radiographs of a 55-year-old man who sustained blunt chest trauma showed bilateral pneumomediastinum, hydropneumothorax, and subcutaneous emphysema with fracture of the left 3rd and 4th ribs.
