A randomized controlled trial of an enhanced interdisciplinary community based group program for people with Parkinson's disease: study rationale and protocol.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive, chronic neurodegenerative disorder for which there is no known cure. Physical exercise programs may be used to assist with the physical management of PD. Several studies have demonstrated that community based physical therapy programs are effective in reducing physical aspects of disability among people with PD. While multidisciplinary therapy interventions may have the potential to reduce disability and improve the quality of life of people with PD, there is very limited clinical trial evidence to support or refute the use of a community based multid

[Vertebral changes after irradiation for Wilms' tumor in early childhood. A retrospective interdisciplinary long-term study of 82 children].

82 children with nephroblastomas, who had therapy between 1960 and 1983, underwent continuous follow-up examinations until 1988. 79 children who survived had been treated with nephrectomy followed by radiation therapy (n = 72) and chemotherapy (n = 72). 64 of these patients had a combination of both post-surgical treatments. Radiotherapy was performed with cobalt-60 until 1977, followed by high-energy photon and electron beam therapy since 1978. In the beginning the dose applied in each patient within five to seven weeks was 46.5 Gy. Since 1972 it was reduced to 42.8 Gy and after 1978 to 32.3

International Expert-Based Consensus Definition, Classification Criteria, and Minimum Data Elements for Osteoradionecrosis of the Jaw: An Interdisciplinary Modified Delphi Study.

PURPOSE: Osteoradionecrosis of the jaw (ORNJ) is a severe iatrogenic disease characterized by bone death after radiation therapy to the head and neck. With >9 published definitions and at least 16 classification systems, the true incidence and severity of ORNJ are obscured by lack of a standard for disease definition and severity assessment, leading to inaccurate estimation of incidence, reporting ambiguity, and likely underdiagnosis worldwide. This study aimed to achieve consensus on an explicit definition and phenotype of ORNJ and related precursor states through data standardization to faci

Can agri-environmental schemes be designed to meet EU habitat restoration goals for semi-natural habitats? An interdisciplinary case study.

Semi-natural grasslands and wooded pastures are biodiversity-rich but declining habitats that depend on continued management, mostly by farmers. In the EU, agri-environmental schemes (AESs) under the Common Agricultural Policy are key instruments for conserving these habitats. We examined how the design and implementation of the Finnish AES for semi-natural habitats align with EU restoration objectives and farmer decision-making and behaviour. To our knowledge, this is one of the first studies to combine farmer survey data on motives and knowledge with evaluations of management performance, si

Interdisciplinary Study of the Clinical Phenotype of Patients with Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) in Dental Practice: A Cross-Sectional Clinical-Statistical Analysis.

Background/Objectives: Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) is an ultra-rare genetic disorder causing progressive heterotopic ossification. The dental phenotype has never been systematically characterised. We quantified dental pathologies and oral health-related quality of life across three age groups of genetically confirmed FOP patients and compared them with 156 matched healthy controls (2022-2025). Methods: A total of 52 FOP patients (Group I: 1-5 y, n = 14; Group II: 6-17 y, n = 21; Group III: 18-35 y, n = 17) underwent standardised dental examination (Decayed, Missing, and Filled

Feasibility Study of an Early, Interdisciplinary, Non-Pharmacological Intervention for Patients at Risk of Developing Persistent Post-Traumatic Headache: The PTHEENOT intervention.

PURPOSE: Persistent post-traumatic headache (PTH) is a disabling consequence of mild head injury, leading to functional impairment, reduced quality of life, and adverse vocational outcomes. Evidence-based treatments are limited, and early, interdisciplinary, non-pharmacological interventions have been proposed to prevent symptom persistence. This study assessed the feasibility and acceptability of PTHEENOT (Post-traumatic Headache - Early Engagement in Non-pharmacological Treatment), combining nurse-led Acceptance and Commitment Therapy-based psychoeducation with physiotherapy-guided activity

Evaluation of a prospective interdisciplinary assessment of return to play in male professional rugby union following lower-limb injury: A pilot study.

The return-to-play process is multifactorial, requiring input from multiple disciplines for rehabilitation. This pilot study used a prospective interdisciplinary approach to assess male professional Rugby Union players' (n = 7) rehabilitation following a non-contact lower-limb injury. Kinetic and self-efficacy assessments were conducted across three rehabilitation phases (acute, middle, late). Biomechanical changes (p < 0.05) were observed across all phases; alongside self-efficacy increases. Moderate-to-strong positive relationships (r = 0.77-0.80) were found between kinetic and self-ef

Impact of an Interdisciplinary Approach to the Management of Refractory Dyspnoea on Patient Quality of Life by a Non-Palliative Respiratory Care Team: A Pilot Study.

INTRODUCTION: Refractory dyspnoea is a common symptom of chronic respiratory disease, often poorly recognized by healthcare professionals. Pharmacological treatments are of limited effectiveness. A multidisciplinary intervention carried out by a specialized palliative care team has demonstrated its effectiveness in helping patients improve their quality of life. The aim of this pilot study was to verify the effects of a multidisciplinary intervention carried out by a team not specialized in palliative care (physician, psychologist, physiotherapist, social worker, dietician). METHODS: A longit

Interdisciplinary frontline teams in home-based healthcare services-paradoxes between organisational work structures and the trust model: a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Achieving access to quality healthcare services to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages is one of the United Nation's Sustainable Developments Goals. In view of this goal, sustainable community healthcare services in Norway need to be urgently restructured in light of demographic changes, including an increase in the percentage of older adults in the country. National healthcare policies recommend finding new ways to organise and perform services using new technology, new methods and new solutions. The goal is to ensure greater continuity in the provision
