OBJECTIVE: To compare the results of operative treatment for displaced intra-articular fractures of calcaneum with conservative treatment.
METHODS: The retrospective non-randomised comparative study using. purposive non-probability convenient sampling was conducted at the Combined Military Hospital, Rawalpindi, and comprised treatment records from March 2010 to October 2013 of patients who had been treated either by Plaster of Paris casting (Group A) or managed by open reduction internal fixation (Group B). Functional outcome was assessed using Foot and Ankle Disability Index.

I previously reported a new reduction and fixation technique for extra-articular distal radius fracture associated with osteoporosis. I developed the technique and applied it to intra-articular fracturea. I present here the technique and verify its reliability, comparing the functional results of intra-articular fracture cases to those of extra-articular cases.

Medical rehabilitation was fulfilled in 75 patients with intra-articular fractures of the distal metaepiphysis of the shoulder bone. The authors came to the conclusion that the main methods of treatment of fresh intra-articular fractures of the distal metaepiphysis of the shoulder bone consisted in conservative measures (a single reposition, skeletal extension and compression-distractional osteosynthesis). In cases of the open reposition followed by osteosynthesis a sparing technique of surgical intervention should be used.

Intra-articular fractures of the lower end of the tibia are an interesting challenge. Treatment of intra-articular malunion of the distal radius has evolved over the past 20 years, from open treatment to wet then dry arthroscopic techniques that provide excellent results with less morbidity than open approaches. Dry wrist arthroscopy provides a well-visualized surgical space in treating intra-articular malunion and results in less edema than wet techniques. INTRODUCTION: Open reduction in displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures entails a high rate of wound healing deficits and infections as well as an uncertain outcome, which leads to remaining ambiguity in treatment preferences.
METHODS: Between January and July 2011, we emailed 575 German chairpersons of trauma and/or orthopaedic departments, asking them to complete a 31-question web-based survey regarding three broad domains: fracture classification, surgical treatment algorithms and risk factors for wound healing deficits.

We reviewed 15 adult patients with intra-articular fractures of the distal humerus treated over a period of 2 years.
