Cartilage morphogenesis during endochondral ossification follows a progression of conserved developmental events. Cells are specified towards a prechondrogenic fate and subsequently undergo condensation followed by overt differentiation. Calmodulin was purified from human tonsillar lymphocytes utilizing calcium-dependent binding of calmodulin to fluphenazine-Sepharose. A new group of vertebrate lectins has been discovered in snake venom preparations. These lectins are cell agglutinating, but not glycoconjugate precipitating.
