Introducing sensitive issues and self-care strategies to first year midwifery students.

OBJECTIVE: first year midwifery students learn early in semester about situations in midwifery where a high level of emotion is expressed, such as taking a sexual history, being faced with the body image changes of pregnancy and working with women in the extreme pain of labour. Protecting breastfeeding in emergencies: a concept analysis to inform midwifery education and practice.

In humanitarian emergencies, including natural disasters, armed conflict, famine, mass displacement, and disease outbreaks, breastfeeding is a lifesaving practice for mothers and infants. As a recognised human right, it provides safe nutrition and hydration without reliance on clean water, electricity, or external supplies. Breastfeeding protects against infection and malnutrition, supports maternal health, reduces stress through oxytocin release, strengthens bonding, and promotes resilience in unstable settings. Despite this, breastfeeding is frequently undermined by misconceptions, lack of p

Biomechanical evaluation of midwifery tasks and its relationship with the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders.

INTRODUCTION: As an important occupational group in the healthcare system, midwives face various ergonomic risk factors such as musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) risks. Moreover, an accurate job evaluation can help to design appropriate ergonomic interventions and more accurately estimate the probability of developing MSDs. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate musculoskeletal discomforts and biomechanical stresses using the Three-Dimensional Static Strength Prediction Program (3DSSPP Ver. 7.1.3) to find the association of these factors with the prevalence of MSDs among midwives.
