Acceptability and Preliminary Effects of a Mindfulness Mobile Application for Ruminative Adolescents.

Rumination is a transdiagnostic risk factor that appears to be reduced through mindfulness interventions. However, mindfulness mobile apps have not been tested for their effects on rumination, especially among adolescents. Thus, we aimed to test the acceptability and effects of a mindfulness mobile intervention among ruminative adolescents using a within-subjects pretest/posttest design. Participants were 80 adolescents ages 12-15, selected for moderate-to-high rumination (M age = 14.01, SD = .99; 46.2% girls; 86.25% White; 3.75% Hispanic). We asked adolescents to use our mindfulness app 3 tim

Operating Room Stencil: A Novel Mobile Application for Surgical Planning.

The techniques used to make preoperative markings before soft tissue reconstruction have remained relatively unchanged since the earliest years of plastic surgery. Using skin-marking pens, many surgeons continue to draw markings freehand as "best estimates" before their first incisions. Although efficient for the experienced surgeon, this strategy may prove challenging for residents and trainees striving to learn and maintain consistency while replicating the intricate geometries of flap markings. To address this need, Operating Room Stencil was developed as a novel tool for digitally planning

Value-based design for the elderly: An application in the field of mobility aids.

In the aging society, the need for the elderly to remain mobile and independent is higher than ever. However, many aids supporting mobility often fail to target real needs and lack acceptance. The aim of this study is to demonstrate how value-based design can contribute to the design of mobility aids that address real needs and thus, lead to high acceptance. We elicited values, facilitators, and barriers of mobility of older adults via ten in-depth interviews. Next, we held co-creation sessions, resulting in several designs of innovative mobility aids, which were evaluated for acceptance via n
