Ultrafiltered Mulberry (Morus alba L.) Leaf Albumin-Type Protein Attenuates High-Fat Diet-Induced Obesity in Mice by Remodeling Gut Microbiota and Metabolic Homeostasis.

Obesity is a chronic metabolic disorder closely associated with dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, low-grade inflammation, and gut microbiota dysbiosis. Mulberry leaves are rich in bioactive proteins, but whether mulberry leaf albumin-type protein can improve diet-induced obesity remains unclear. In this study, ultrafiltered mulberry leaf albumin-type protein (UMP) was prepared and its anti-obesity effects were evaluated in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed C57BL/6J mice. UMP contained 87.12 ± 0.52 g/100 g protein, 2.52 ± 0.00 g/100 g polyphenols, and 8.21 ± 1.49 g/100 g polysaccharides, with two major a

Phytotherapeutic potential of compounds identified from fractionated extracts of Morus alba L., as an inhibitor of interleukin-6 in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis: computational approach.

The presence of HLA-DRB1 alleles that encode critical points associated with environmental interactions is associated with increased risk of rheumatoid arthritis caused by anti-citrullinated protein antibodies. Therefore, interleukin-6 (IL-6), a multifunctional cytokine that controls both local and systemic acute inflammatory responses through its ability to induce a phase response, plays a serious role. Its overexpression leads to pathological challenges such as rheumatoid arthritis and menopausal osteoporosis. However, targeting the IL-6 receptor and its region could be the major step in con

MicroRNA-mediated responses to magnesium-induced stress coordinate target genes involved in porphyrin and biosynthesis of secondary metabolites metabolisms in mulberry (Morus alba L.).

BACKGROUND: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play essential regulatory roles in magnesium (Mg) imbalance by targeting key defense genes for cleavage or translational repression. miRNA targets in response to Mg deficiency and toxicity remain uncharacterized in mulberry (Morus alba) in Mg-induced stress. We, for the first time, investigated Mg-stress-responsive miRNAs and their targets in mulberry leaves using transcriptome-wide sequencing to identify miRNAs putatively involved in Mg-stress tolerance. In this study, Mg (MgSO4) treatment applied in six concentration ranging from 0 mM/L (T0) as Mg deficiency, 1

Exogenous Hydrogen Sulfide Alleviates Low Temperature and Fluctuating-Light-Induced Photoinhibition of Photosystem I in Morus alba Through Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Antioxidant Defense.

Low temperature combined with fluctuating irradiance frequently co-occurs and suppresses photosynthesis, with irreversible injury to photosystem I (PSI) recognized as a key constraint on growth and yield. To test whether exogenous hydrogen sulfide (H2S) mitigates this "cold-fluctuating light" stress in mulberry, we established six treatment combinations (room temperature controls, sodium hydrosulfide, and hypotaurine, each with or without low temperature plus fluctuating light). We quantified PSI/PSII photochemical properties, gas exchange, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and antioxidant enzyme

Integration of Metabolomics, Transcriptomics, and 16s rRNA Sequencing Reveals the Mechanism of Morus alba L. (Sangzhi) Alkaloids (SZ-A) in Improving Cholesterol Metabolism in Diabetic Rats.

Mulberry (Morus alba L.) is a plant widely used in the agricultural, food and pharmaceutical fields. Sangzhi alkaloids (SZ-A) are a series of alkaloids extracted from mulberry branches that are approved in China for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). T2DM is always accompanied by hypercholesterolemia, which increases the risk of macrovascular complications. However, the mechanism by which SZ-A influences cholesterol metabolism remains to be elucidated. In this study, SZ-A was orally administered to Zucker diabetic fatty rats at doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg once daily for 9 weeks. Choleste

Chromatographic profiling of morin from in vitro raised mulberry leaves (Morus alba L. var. ichinose) treated with ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS) and sodium azide (NaN3).

Mulberry (Morus spp.) foliage constitutes the chief food for the silkworm, Bombyx mori L. and thus has importance in silk industry. In Mulberry leaf, morin is one of the principal constituents present. The current study was undertaken to optimise an analytical RP-HPLC method for the separation and quantification of morin from mulberry leaf treated with ethyl methane sulphonate and sodium azide. The mobile phase water and methanol (80:20), flow rate of 0.9 ml/min and the column temperature of 30 °C were found to be ideal conditions based on resolution and symmetry. Determination of Effect of Morus alba Extract and Lactobacillus rhamnosus on Vaginal Microbiota and SAP Gene (1-10) Profile With Candida albicans Exosome Administration in Rats.

Vaginal microbiota is essential for mucosal immunity, pathogen defense, and homeostasis. Disruption of this balance can promote opportunistic infections, notably by Candida albicans. This study investigates the therapeutic potential of Morus alba (MA) extract and Lactobacillus rhamnosus (LR) in a rat model exposed to Candida albicans exosomes (CAE). CAE induced a 1.3-5.1-fold upregulation in SAP1-10 gene expression, with SAP4 showing the highest increase (p ≤ 0.05). MA and LR monotherapies selectively suppressed SAP6 (41%) and SAP4 (23%), respectively. Notably, combination therapy (CAE+MA+LR)

Therapeutic Effects of Psoralea corylifolia and Morus alba Aqueous Extracts on Tetrahymena pyriformis-Infected Guppies (Poecilia reticulata) and Underlying Transcriptomic Mechanisms: Implications for Ciliate Parasite Control.

Tetrahymena pyriformis is biologically similar to Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, the parasite that causes "white spot disease" in fish. Because it has immune evasion genes and grows quickly, T. pyriformis serves as an ideal model for developing treatments against I. multifiliis and related parasites. This study tested water extracts from 10 traditional Chinese herbs against T. pyriformis and identified 5 with strong antiparasitic effects: Morus alba, Psoralea corylifolia, Sophora flavescens, Polygonum cuspidatum, and Pomegranate Peel. Combination tests showed that certain pairs, especially P. c
