Uncoated intraocular lenses caused extensive corneal endothelial cell damage after in vitro contact (mean, 30.9% cell loss), whereas lenses coated with bovine submaxillary mucin type 1 caused minimal cell loss (mean 4.3%). No observable in vivo toxicity in the eye occurred when 0.1 ml of 3, 6, or 9% solution was injected into the anterior chamber. Mucin-coated lenses can be sterilized by ethylene oxide with no measurable adsorbence into the coating. Scanning electron microscopy confirmed the results from vital staining.

Pyloric gland adenoma (PGA) is a duodenal neoplasm expressing MUC6 and is often associated with high-grade dysplasia and adenocarcinoma. Mucin deposition in Spitz nevus seems to be a very rare phenomenon, as there have only been 3 cases previously published. We report 6 additional cases, half of them in women, and half in men. The ages of the patients varied from 5 to 47 years (mean = 30.17). Sizes of the nevi varied from 3 to 6 mm. BACKGROUND/AIM: A subset of carcinomas metastatic to the ovary can exhibit growth patterns closely resembling ovarian mucinous cystadenoma and borderline tumor. CONTEXT: The origin of and relationship between ovarian mucinous and transitional cell (Brenner) neoplasms are enigmatic. The reported association ranges from 1% to 16%, and whether there is an association with Walthard cell nests is unknown.

OBJECTIVE: Adjustment of diagnostics and management of the surgical treatment of patients with intraductal papillary mucinous tumor of pancreas.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: From 2012 to 2018, 45 patients with intraductal papillary mucinous tumor were observed. During the observation the ultrasound examination, contrast-enhanced computed tomography and magnetic resonance tomography with contrast were used.
