Shoulder pain is common, especially as we age. Pain that limits your ability to raise your arm above your head or rotate your shoulder is called "subacromial shoulder pain." The good news is that most people with subacromial shoulder pain improve with physical therapy. A review of the most up-to-date research published in the March 2020 issue of JOSPT concluded that shoulder exercises are the best way to manage this pain. J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2020;50(3):142. doi:10.2519/jospt.2020.0501.

BACKGROUND: Myofascial mobilization has been used as an intervention for patients with fibromyalgia (FM) for acting on ascending nociceptive pathways possibly involved in the central sensitization process, modulating the pain experience. However, there is still a gap in its efficacy compared with another hands-on approach because manual therapy has nonspecific effects, such as placebo.
OBJECTIVES: This systematic review aims to review the scientific literature for an overview of the efficacy of manual therapy in pain, disease impact, and quality of life in patients with FM compared with contr

CLINICAL SCENARIO: Sacroiliac joint (SIJ) pain is a type of low back pain, affecting roughly 15% to 30% of patient cases. Pain management is essential for improving function and quality of life in these patients. However, due to the complexity of the anatomy and the innervations surrounding the SIJ, there is limited consensus on the most effective treatment for SIJ pain, resulting in variable approaches to pain management. Common interventions for SIJ pain include muscle energy techniques (MET) and joint manipulations, both are known for their ability to improve function and reduce pain.

Thrust manipulation is one of the most commonly used techniques for managing musculoskeletal pain in clinical practice. This involves the application of a high-velocity, low-amplitude force directed to the joints with the intent of achieving joint cavitation. This current case report describes a female in her mid-20s who presented with excessive bilateral and involuntary hand muscle contractions after bilateral thrust manipulation. Dystonia appeared both at rest and during voluntary movements but was aggravated by actions such as finger flexion or spreading and disappeared during sleep. A diag

UNLABELLED: Essential arterial hypertension (EAH) is a chronic non-communicable disease (CNCD), that develops in parallel with other pathologies of the CNCD group, the presence of which is promoted by hypodynamia with consequent disturbance of aerobic energy supply processes. These disorders include, in particular, degenerative-dystrophic processes of the locomotor system, comprising of the cervical spine. In turn, development of these processes can additionally worsen hemodynamics with disturbance of the oxygen transfer processes. Thus, comprehensive exposure on all the components of EAH path

INTRODUCTION: Low back pain (LBP) is a major cause of physical disability in the world. The origin of this condition can be due to differents causes, with a specific cause or of unknown mechanical origin, being characterized as unspecific. In this case a physical therapy treatment approach with manual therapy is relevant, which includes the muscle energy technique (MET) classified as a common conservative treatment for pathologies of the spine, mainly in LBP and disability. This study assessed the effectiveness of the muscle energy technique on nonspecific low back pain.
