Management of side effects of novel therapies for multiple myeloma: consensus statements developed by the International Myeloma Foundation's Nurse Leadership Board.

Nurses play an essential role in managing the care of patients with multiple myeloma, who require education and support to receive and adhere to optimal therapy. The International Myeloma Foundation created a Nurse Leadership Board comprised of oncology nurses from leading cancer centers and community practices. An assessment survey identified the need for specific recommendations for managing key side effects of novel antimyeloma agents. Myelosuppression, thromboembolic events, peripheral neuropathy, steroid toxicities, and gastrointestinal side effects were selected for the first consensus s

Achieving Hepatitis C Elimination By Using Person-Centered, Nurse-Led Models of Care: A Discussion of Four International Case Studies.

Nurse-led models of care are an important strategy in the management of patients with chronic disease because of the person-centered approach that allows the needs of the individual to be prioritized and addressed in accessible settings. Hepatitis C is caused by a blood-borne virus that can cause liver disease and liver cancer; it predominantly affects marginalized populations, including people who inject drugs. Since 2013, all oral, direct-acting antiviral regimens have been available to cure hepatitis C. Nurses are well placed to be involved in the delivery of hepatitis C testing and treatme

Status Analysis of Nursing Assessment Terminology of Neurological Conditions and Its Cross-Mapping with the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF).

Patients with nervous system disorders with an accurate nursing assessment can experience an improved prognosis and promotion of health. The lack of uniform terminology limits the accuracy of nursing in China. ICF constitutes a unified and standard language can help standardize nursing assessment terms. This study show that ICF is suitable for Chinese nursing practice by using ICF Clinical Checklist and ICF-linking-rules to map the nursing assessment terminology of neurological conditions with ICF.

"Without Filters" Nurse and Healthcare Worker Personal Protective Equipment Injuries and the COVID-19 Experience: An International Social Media Ethnographic Study.

Selfies of nurses and healthcare workers (HCWs) with painful personal protective equipment (PPE) injuries posted to social media provided early warning of the global PPE shortage impact during the COVID-19 pandemic. We aim to describe contextual factors associated with these injuries and describe factors that influenced posting on social media. A social media ethnographic study used purposeful sampling of Instagram posts (selfies/text) from March-October 2020 (170 posts; 26 countries). Posts were coded using focused content analysis to identify contextual factors. Data were reduced to understa

Patients' perceptions of male and female nursing interns in Guangdong and Guangxi, Southern China: The interplay of gender stereotypes, patient satisfaction, and willingness to receive care.

Nursing remains female-dominated globally, with gender stereotypes hindering workforce diversity. Male nurses account for 2% to 5% of China's nursing workforce, and Guangdong/Guangxi lack studies on patients' perceptions of male nursing interns. This study aims to explore relationships between gender stereotypes, patient satisfaction, and willingness to receive care from male/female nursing interns in Guangdong/Guangxi and identify influencing factors. In this study, a multicenter cross-sectional survey (Mar-Jun 2025) enrolled 460 inpatients from 4 tertiary hospitals (2 each in Guangdong/Guang

Evaluation of Nurse Preferences Between the Lanreotide Autogel New Syringe and the Octreotide Long-Acting Release Syringe: An International Simulated-Use Study (PRESTO).

INTRODUCTION: Somatostatin analogues are used to treat symptoms and slow tumour progression in patients with neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) and carcinoid syndrome and to reduce hormone secretion and pituitary tumour volume in patients with acromegaly. A new syringe for lanreotide autogel/depot (LAN) was developed following feedback from a human factors study to improve ease of injection compared with previous syringes. PRESTO aimed to assess preferences of nurses between the LAN new syringe and the octreotide long-acting release (LAR) syringe. METHODS: PRESTO, a multinational, multicentre, pro

Correlation Between Self-Efficacy and Problem-Solving Behavioral Intentions Regarding Near Misses Among Nursing Interns: The Mediating Role of Psychological Safety.

BACKGROUND: A near miss is an error or event that is detected or corrected before reaching or harming the patient. Near-miss events among nursing interns may compromise patient safety and reflect challenges in clinical practice. Self-efficacy and psychological safety are important psychological factors that may influence problem-solving behavioral intentions regarding near misses. However, evidence on the relationship between these variables among nursing interns remains limited. This study aimed to explore the relationship between self-efficacy and problem-solving behavioral intentions regard

Obesity and its associated factors in older nursing home residents in three European countries-Secondary data analyses from the "International Prevalence Measurement of Care Quality".

BACKGROUND: The prevalence of obesity has risen in recent decades and reached epidemic proportions worldwide. The proportion of those living with obesity is also increasing in nursing homes. This could impact the nursing care required, equipment and facilities provided, and morbidity in these settings. Limited evidence exists on clinical consequences of obesity in nursing home residents and their care. OBJECTIVE: Therefore, the aim was to examine the rate and associated factors of obesity (BMI ≥30; class I (BMI 30.0-34.9 kg/m2 ), class II (BMI 35.0-39.9 kg/m2 ), and class III (BMI >40.0 kg/m2
