ERCP Knowledge, Practical Skills, and Training Needs of Endoscopic Nurses: A Cross-Sectional Study Based on Miller's Pyramid Theory.

AIMS/BACKGROUND: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a high-risk invasive procedure that requires close cooperation between physicians and specialized nurses. Standardized systematic training for endoscopic nurses remains insufficient in many clinical settings in China. We aimed to investigate current levels of specialized knowledge and practical skills among endoscopic nurses in Zhejiang Province, China regarding ERCP, based on Miller's pyramid theory of abilities, and analyze their training willingness and needs, thereby providing a theoretical basis for establishing a s

Building on Self-Determination Theory to Unravel the Motivational Drivers of Nurses and Rehabilitation Therapists in a Moroccan University Hospital: A Qualitative Study.

Background: Nurses' motivation is essential for ensuring the quality of care and workforce retention. Understanding the underlying psychological mechanisms is essential, particularly through Self-Determination Theory (SDT). This approach clarifies how work environments influence work engagement and performance. Existing research has explored SDT in various contexts. However, little is known about how contextual and organizational factors specifically impact nurses' motivation in low- and middle-income countries such as Morocco. This study contributes to addressing this gap. Objectives: This st

[A nurse's experience using the super-link system theory to help a T6 spinal cord injury patient return to school].

The subject of this article is a 20 year-old female with thoracic spinal cord injury with paraplegia suffered during a car accident. The article reports on the nursing experience in helping the patient manage her autonomic dysreflexia (AD), training the patient in self-catheterization, and using relevant social resources in order to achieve a successful return to her studies at school. The authors collected data using interviews, observations, and physical assessments between November 20 and December 30, 2008. The two nursing diagnoses of AD and inadequate preparation for a successful return t

Personality-related learning pathways in virtual simulation: a theory-informed mixed-methods study among standardized training nurses.

OBJECTIVE: To examine the associations among personality traits, learning behaviors, and learning outcomes in virtual simulation training among standardized training nurses. METHODS: An explanatory sequential mixed-methods design was used. In the quantitative phase, 128 nurses completed a virtual simulation program on geriatric fall management. Knowledge was assessed before and after training, personality was measured using the Big Five Inventory-2, and learning behaviors were obtained from the platform. Hierarchical regression was performed with post-test knowledge as the outcome. In the qua

Effectiveness of a 7E teaching model based on symptom management theory in new nurse induction training: a quasi-experimental study.

BACKGROUND: Newly graduated nurses (NGNs) often lack dynamic symptom assessment and management skills, a core competency deficit that increases adverse event risks and transition shock. Traditional training methods frequently fail to bridge this theory-practice gap. AIM: To evaluate the effectiveness of a novel teaching model, integrating the 7E learning cycle with Symptom Management Theory (SMT), on the competencies and clinical outcomes of NGNs. STUDY DESIGN: A quasi-experimental design with pre-/post-test assessments at three time points (T0, T1, and T2) was employed. SETTINGS: A tertiary h

Effectiveness of a nurse-led theory-based program on breastfeeding outcomes in women after cesarean section: a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Breastfeeding provides significant benefits for both mothers and infants, yet its rates remain suboptimal, particularly among women undergoing cesarean sections. Breastfeeding practices are determined by a wide range of socio-environmental, cultural, family and individual factors, but current breastfeeding promotion interventions that integrate these dimensions are limited. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a breastfeeding intervention based on Theory of Planned Behavior and the Interactive Theory of Breastfeeding in promoting breastfeeding outcomes in women after c

The impact of stroke aphasia on health and well-being and appropriate nursing interventions: an exploration using the Theory of Human Scale Development.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: This paper considers the impact of aphasia on health and well-being and provides suggestions for appropriate nursing interventions. Background.  Effective communication is essential to holistic care and positive outcomes for individuals affected by aphasia. When verbal communication is absent, nurses fail to adequately use alternative strategies so that the standard of nurse/patient communication is frequently poor. DESIGN: This is a discursive paper which reviews relevant literature and uses the Theory of Human Scale Development as a framework for discussion. METHOD: Th

Feasibility of a theory-based intervention towards benzodiazepine deprescribing in Belgian nursing homes: protocol of the END-IT NH cluster-randomised controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Despite several calls to deprescribe benzodiazepine receptor agonists (BZRA) in older adults, their use among nursing home residents (NHRs) remains high. Therefore, we developed an intervention targeting general practitioners' and healthcare professionals' behaviours regarding BZRA deprescribing in nursing homes (NHs): The END-IT NH (bENzodiazepines Deprescribing InTerventions Nursing homes) 6-component intervention. Before moving on to a large-scale effectiveness and cost-effectiveness evaluation, this feasibility study aims at: (1) assessing the feasibility of the intervention

The effects of positive psychology theory in the rehabilitation nursing of Chinese patients with schizophrenia: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

BACKGROUND: Schizophrenia is a complex and severe chronic mental disorder characterized by persistent cognitive dysfunction. Particularly in Chinese families, the disability of patients with schizophrenia and the burden on their caregivers are especially heavy, reflecting the profound impact of the disease on both the patients and their families. Positive psychology is a science that focuses on human happiness, strengths, and potential. It originated at the end of the 20th century, advocated by psychologists such as Martin Seligman, aiming to go beyond the traditional psychology's focus on dis

The effectiveness of a workplace violence prevention strategy based on situational prevention theory for nurses in managing violent situations: a quasi-experimental study.

BACKGROUND: Workplace violence (WPV) poses a significant occupational hazard for nurses. The efficacy of current education and training programs in mitigating WPV incidence among nurses remains uncertain, possibly due to insufficient consideration of clinical contexts and nurses' specific needs. Therefore, this study developed a WPV prevention strategy based on the actual requirements of clinical nurses and situational prevention theory and aimed to explore its application effects. METHODS: Under the guidance of situational prevention theory, a WPV prevention strategy for nurses was construct

A risk reduction model for late-onset preeclampsia: a theory for using low-intensity exercises to enhance cardiac homeostasis in nursing research and practice.

Viewing late-onset preeclampsia as an autonomic dysregulation is a new approach. It is one that will provide nurses and other clinicians with theory-based prenatal care choices that focus on enhancing homeostasis rather than prediction. The dominant prediction model manages the disease based on one biomedical pathway even though the disease is believed to be heterogeneous. Unlike early-onset preeclampsia, which involves severe placental pathophysiology and thus should be left for medical research, late-onset preeclampsia--intact placenta with maternal cardiovascular dysregulation--may be preve

[Applying Developmental Care Theory to the Improvement of Self-Regulation and Feeding Difficulties in a Late Preterm Infant Receiving Cardiac Surgery: A Nursing Experience].

When preterm infants present with organ anomalies that require immediate surgical intervention after birth, their immature nervous systems often limit their ability to cope with the stress of surgery and subsequent treatments. This often results in difficulties with self-regulation and related health issues. The case described in this study involves a late preterm female infant born at 36+4 weeks of gestation who underwent cardiac surgery on the fifth day after birth. Postoperatively, she exhibited neonatal neurodevelopmental disorganization, ineffective suck-swallow reflexes, and inadequate n
