PURPOSE: Oxaliplatin is increasingly becoming the chemotherapeutic drug of choice for the treatment of peritoneal malignancies using cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS-HIPEC). We report a case of ascending colon cancer successfully treated for synchronous liver metastases with mFOLFOX6 after a resection of the primary tumor. A 79-year-old woman was diagnosed as having an ascending colon cancer with synchronous liver metastases. After right hemicolectomy, she was treated with mFOLFOX6. Oxaliplatin appears non cross-resistant with cisplatin and has a comparable antitumour effect both in preclinical and clinical studies. We compared the antitumour effect of oxaliplatin with that of cisplatin in human neuroblastoma cell lines SK-N-DZ, LAN-1 and BE(2)M17 following 24 h exposure at concentrations ranging from 0.5 to 5 microM. We report 2 cases of locally far-advanced rectosigmoid cancer that were initially unresectable, but were successfully excised after treatment with CapeOX plus Bmab chemotherapy(capecitabine, L-OHP, and bevacizumab).
