OBJECTIVES: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the outcome of fetal ovarian cysts in relation to their ultrasonic appearance and size.
METHODS: Forty-two fetal ovarian cysts were diagnosed in 41 fetuses and followed with serial ultrasonograms in utero and after birth until spontaneous or surgical resolution.
RESULTS: Twelve fetal ovarian cysts that were echogenic at diagnosis and six that were anechoic at diagnosis but became echogenic at subsequent prenatal sonograms were all submitted to postnatal surgery. Of the remaining 24 cysts, all anechoic, four were successfully aspirated

The aim of this study was to evaluate the ovarian cysts appearing during GnRH-a/hMG treatment in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). A total of 35 women with PCOS were included in the study. All women received 3.75 mg IM of long-acting leuprolide acetate on the first day of the menstrual cycle. The paraovarian or paratubarian cysts are both situated in the broad ligament between the ovary and fallopian tube. The diagnosis of adnexal torsion is challenging since both symptoms and physical examination are nonspecific. In most cases, the patient presents abdominal pain, followed by nausea and vomiting. Imaging tests, such as ultrasound, are very useful to elucidate the cause of the symptoms in those patients.

A 60-year-old female patient presented to our clinic with complaints of abdominal distention. The rapid accumulation of fluid was originally thought to be ascites, based on ultrasonographic examination. The cause, however, was ultimately determined to be a borderline malignant giant ovarian cyst. Several processes can mimick ascites: bladder distention or diverticulum, hydronephrosis, pancreatic pseudocysts, and large uterine or ovarian tumors. For this reason, clinicians must consider processes other than ascites in the differential diagnosis of large abdominal fluid accumulation.

Hydatid cyst is a parasitic disease caused by Taenia echinococcus. The first and most important site for this parasite is the liver. Secondary involvement of the pelvic organs is seen. However, the primary involvement is very rare. Here we are reporting a case with primary involvement of the ovary which underwent laparotomy and was proven by microscopic studies.
