Evaluation of probiotic properties and genome analysis of the new Pediococcus acidilactici strain 46A isolated from Chinese young adults: in vitro and in vivo studies.

BACKGROUND: The human gut microbiota plays a key role in intestinal homeostasis and inflammatory diseases, prompting the search for novel probiotic strains with strain-specific functional properties. Differences in dietary habits and cultural backgrounds represent a valuable source for isolating previously uncharacterized gut bacteria. Given the increasing use of probiotics, rigorous safety assessment, including antimicrobial resistance (AMR) evaluation, is required, and the integration of whole-genome sequencing with phenotypic characterization is recommended. OBJECTIVES: This study evaluate

Natural Endotoxemia in Dogs-A Hidden Condition That Can Be Treated with a Potential Probiotic Containing Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis and Pediococcus acidilactici: A Study Model.

Spore-based Bacillus spp. products are considered to have a higher probiotic potential compared to products containing only lactic acid bacteria because their viability in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is higher, even when GI environmental conditions are unfavorable. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of a Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis and Pediococcus acidilactici spore-based potential probiotic on the natural levels of postprandial endotoxemia. A total of 11 dogs completed the study: group 1-healthy dogs: n = 5; group 2-dogs with apparent dysbiosis: n = 6. For 30 day

Gut-Derived Lactic Acid Bacteria, Pediococcus pentosaceus, Enhances Growth Performance and Resistance to Pathogenic Vibrio harveyi of Hatchery-Bred Milkfish (Chanos chanos) in Nursery Culture.

Hatchery-bred milkfish (Chanos chanos) fry continue to face stocking challenges due to inferior growth performance and reduced resilience compared with wild-caught fry. Recent metagenomic studies have shown that wild fry harbor a higher relative abundance of bacterial taxa belonging to the phylum Bacillota. These include lactic acid bacteria (LAB), which are widely recognized for their probiotic potential in aquaculture. Building on this metagenomic insight, the present study adopted a targeted approach to isolate LAB with anti-Vibrio activity and evaluate its probiotic potential in hatchery-b

Postbiotic of Pediococcus acidilactici GQ01, a Novel Probiotic Strain Isolated from Natural Fermented Wolfberry, Attenuates Hyperuricaemia in Mice through Modulating Uric Acid Metabolism and Gut Microbiota.

Hyperuricaemia (HUA) is a disorder of purine metabolism, which manifests itself as an increase in uric acid production and a decrease in uric acid excretion, as well as a change in the structure of the intestinal microbiota. Most of the drugs currently used to treat HUA have significant side effects, and it is essential to find a treatment for HUA that is free of side effects. In this study, a novel strain, Pediococcus acidilactici GQ01, was screened from natural fermented wolfberry. The effects of both live bacteria GQ01 and its heat-killed G1PB postbiotic on HUA were investigated. The result

Gastroprotective effects of Pediococcus acidilactici GKA4 and Lactobacillus brevis GKL93 against ethanol-induced gastric ulcers via regulation of the immune response and gut microbiota in mice.

Excessive alcohol consumption is a significant pathogenic factor involved in the initiation of noninfectious gastric ulcers. Probiotics based on a specific strain can mitigate gastric damage. However, the protective effects of Pediococcus acidilactici (GKA4) and Lactobacillus brevis (GKL93) against alcohol-induced gastric mucosal damage remain unclear. Hence, the gastroprotective effects of these probiotic strains were investigated in BALB/c mice with gastric mucosa damage induced by absolute alcohol. The results revealed that preadministration of GKA4 and GKL93 increased the expression of ant
