BACKGROUND: Current therapeutic modalities for fibromyalgia (FM) do not provide satisfactory results and new approaches have to be explored.
OBJECTIVES: To assess efficacy and safety of adding a phytotherapy treatment (Fib-19-01) to the current therapeutic regimen in patients with FM.
METHODS: Double-blind controlled trial: women with active FM (Fibromyalgia Index Questionnaire FIQ > 40) were randomised to receive Fib-19-01 or a food supplement (FS) undistinguishable from Fib-19-01 or no supplementary treatment (NoST). All continued the conventional therapy throughout the 6 month follow-up.

INTRODUCTION: Medicinal plants and their preparations are of great interest to many patients with rheumatic diseases. In 2023 the German Society for Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology (DGRh) Committee for Complementary Medicine and Nutrition (KHE) began reviewing the scientific literature on selected phytotherapeutic agents and herbal preparations and examining their potential applications in rheumatology. Following the publication of the initial results in 2025, the evaluation of 13 additional phytotherapeutic agents took place later that same year.

BACKGROUND: Acute uncomplicated cystitis in women is one of the most frequently diagnosed bacterial infections.
METHODS: In a pilot, open, noncomparative prospective study, 29 nonpregnant, sexually active women with acute uncomplicated cystitis were enrolled. The mean age was 28.9 ± 4.3, range 22-36 years. All patients received unique therapy: the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) ketoprofen, 100 mg once a day for 5 days, and Canephron, 2 dragees three times a day for 1 month.

The therapeutic effect of a long-term Gestagen therapy (lynestrenol) and a phytotherapy (Mastodynon) in comparison to a placebo group is reported in 160 cases of severe mastopathy with cyclic mastalgia.
