Gender Perceptions Among Women Undergoing In Vitro Fertilization Treatment: The Role of Sociodemographic Factors.

BACKGROUND: Gender perception reflects how individuals interpret and internalize social norms and expectations related to femininity and masculinity. In societies where traditional gender roles remain influential, these perceptions may affect reproductive experiences and responses to infertility. However, data examining gender perception among women undergoing infertility treatment remain limited. This study aimed to examine gender perceptions among women undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) treatment and to investigate the association between gender perception and selected socio

Atherogenic Risk in Shift Versus Non-Shift Workers: Associations with Sociodemographic and Lifestyle Factors.

Introduction. Atherosclerosis is the histopathological lesion underlying most cardiovascular diseases. Several scales assess the risk of developing atherosclerosis, with the most recognized being atherogenic dyslipidemia (AD) and atherogenic indices (AIs). The aim of this study is to assess the associations between shift work, sociodemographic variables, and lifestyle with atherogenic risk, as determined by atherogenic indices, atherogenic dyslipidemia, and the lipid triad. Material and Methods. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study involving 53,053 workers (28,808 shift workers and 24,

Associations of Plasma p-tau181 With Age, Adjusted for Kidney Function and Sociodemographic Factors.

INTRODUCTION: Plasma phosphorylated tau (p-tau) levels, such as p-tau181, are elevated in Alzheimer's disease compared to cognitively unimpaired individuals. They represent potential candidate blood biomarkers for use in memory services where CSF examinations are not available. However, the effect of age on plasma p-tau levels remains undetermined. Limited studies have investigated the association between age and plasma p-tau thus far, and fewer still have differentiated levels by brain amyloid pathology. Characterising these associations and determining if this is influenced by sociodemograph

Clinical, sociodemographic and environmental predicting factors for relapse in bipolar disorder: A systematic review.

INTRODUCTION: Bipolar disorder (BD) is a chronic and recurrent illness characterized by manic, mixed or depressive episodes, alternated with periods of euthymia. Several prognostic factors are associated with higher rates of relapse, which is crucial for the identification of high-risk individuals. This study aimed at systematically reviewing the existing literature regarding the impact of sociodemographic, clinical and environmental factors, in clinical relapses, recurrences and hospitalizations due to mood episodes in BD. METHODS: A systematic search of electronic databases (PubMed, Cochran

Retrospective analysis of 261 autopsies of penetrating cardiac injuries with emphasis on sociodemographic factors.

Penetrating cardiac injuries (PCIs) are highly lethal and several factors are related to its incidence and mortality. While most studies focus on characterizing patients who arrived at a medical facility alive and exploring the relationship between the degree of heart compromise and mortality, our study delved deeper into the topic. This study analyzed 261 autopsy reports from 2017 in Bogotá, Colombia, and characterized the factors surrounding PCI incidence and mortality while emphasizing the role of sociodemographic variables. Of these cases, 247 (94.6%) were males with a mean age of 29.19 ±

Sociodemographic risk factors associated with patient follow-up after implementation of a CardioObstetrics program.

Given the association of adverse pregnancy outcomes with risk of developing cardiovascular disease and cardiac events later in life, our institution launched a CardioObstetrics (CardioOB) program aimed to provide long-term care for patients at risk. We performed a retrospective cohort study in order to investigate which patient characteristics were associated with CardioOB follow-up following the inception of the program. We identified several sociodemographic factors and pregnancy characteristics such as increased maternal age, non-English language preferred, married marital status, referral

Sociodemographic and health-related factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding in 77 districts of Uganda.

BACKGROUND: Uganda surpasses many African nations and the global average in exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) rates. Yet, malnutrition is a critical issue, with stunting impacting roughly 29% of children under 5 years. Enhancing EBF could mitigate such nutritional challenges. This study focused on determining the current EBF prevalence and identifying associated factors across 77 surveyed districts. METHODS: Pooled data from the Lot Quality Assurance Sampling (LQAS) surveys conducted in 77 districts in Uganda during 2021 and 2022 were analyzed. The analysis involved 7,210 mothers of children unde

Modelling sociodemographic factors that affect malaria prevalence in Sussundenga, Mozambique: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Malaria is still one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in Mozambique with little progress in malaria control over the past 20 years. Sussundenga is one of most affected areas. Malaria transmission has a strong association with environmental and sociodemographic factors. The knowledge of sociodemographic factors that affects malaria, may be used to improve the strategic planning for its control. Currently such studies have not been performed in Sussundenga. Thus, the objective of this study is to model the relationship between malaria and sociodemographic factors in S
