Ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injuries are associated with several pathologies, including testicular injury. Earlier animal models of testicular IR, which involves twisting the spermatic cord to achieve ischemia, are fraught with many technical difficulties that result in the inability to reproduce the model consistently. Testis scintigraphy is the most reliable modality in the diagnosis of testis torsion since it directly reflects the vascularity of the testis. The 'rim sign' is considered as the pathognomonic sign of the missed torsion. However, there are some possible false-positive cases. In this case report, we would like to present an unexpected false-positive cause of the 'rim sign' in testis scintigraphy in an 18-year-old male patient.

Epidermoid cysts of the testis are rare, benign lesions. Of approximately 200 reported cases only 1 was bilateral. We report a case of bilateral epidermoid cysts treated with preservation of a testis. Diagnostic criteria, ultrasound evaluation and surgical management are discussed. The potential for testicular conservation is emphasized.

A 25-year-old man presented complaining of a painful, left scrotal swelling. He first noticed a mass in his left scrotum during childhood, but, in the absence of clinical symptoms, did not seek medical attention. PURPOSE: Screening for undescended testis (UDT) in Japan is performed as a neonate, then at 1, 3, 10, and 18 months old, and 3 years old. Incidence of ascending testis (AT) after screening was reviewed.
METHODS: All orchiopexy/orchiectomy at a single institute between July 2005 and June 2022 were reviewed retrospectively.

A 69-year-old man presented with a 2.4 cm painless mass in his right testis. Inguinal orchiectomy was performed. Histologically a carcinoid tumor of the testis was diagnosed. These neuroendocrine, noninvasive tumors are very rare, representing 0.23% of all testicular neoplasms. In 10% these tumors are associated with carcinoid syndrome and in 20% with metastatic disease.

MATERIAL AND METHOD: We conducted an e-mail survey of current practices in 28 pediatric surgery departments in 28 university or general hospitals in France. We then reviewed what evidence could be found in the literature.

A testicular carcinoma in intraabdominal undescended testis can mimic other mesenteric or retroperitoneal mass. The identification of pampiniform plexus draining the mass can play an important role in diagnosis of testicular carcinoma in undescended testis. Torsion of a cryptorchidid testicle presents a non-specific symptomatology. Clinical suspicion indicates surgical exploration, irrespective of Doppler ultrasound with its inherent false negative results. With regards to treatment, an orchiectomy is performed when the testis is necrotic. Management of the contralateral testis is controversial. Our policy is not to fix them systematically because we believe that a healthy education of parents and children is more important, so as to obtain an earlier diagnosis of a future torsion.
