BACKGROUND: Preoperative anxiety is prevalent in children undergoing supernumerary tooth extraction and can exacerbate physiological stress responses. Nonpharmacological interventions like immersive gaming interventions (IGI) offer potential anxiolytic benefits, but robust evidence in pediatric dentistry is limited.
METHODS: In this prospective RCT, 102 children aged 4-12 years scheduled for supernumerary tooth extraction under general anesthesia were randomized to IGI (n = 50) or standard care (n = 52). The IGI group received a multicomponent framework comprising structured therapeutic play,

A 12-year-old female patient was initially referred to and examined in the oral surgery department at the School of Dentistry, Belfast following referral from her high street orthodontist. Reason for referral was extraction of two supernumeraries associated with the palatal aspect of the maxillary central incisors along with removal of two retained maxillary primary canines, to facilitate orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances. Although not clinically evident, dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) revealed fusion between the right maxillary central incisor and adjacent palatal super

This report describes a clinical case of asymptomatic compound odontoma in the anterior left side of the maxilla associated with an impacted canine and supernumerary tooth with a gubernacular canal of a 47- year-old female with no relevant medical history. Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) was performed for precise three-dimensional localization of each structure and assessment of their spatial relationship with the associated structures before surgery. The treatment protocol involved surgical enucleation of the odontoma and open extraction of both impacted and supernumerary teeth. The pati

BACKGROUND Dental fusion is a developmental dental anomaly that clinicians must be aware of and able to identify. It results from the union of 2 adjacent tooth germs affecting the normal dentition and leads to a decrease in the number of permanent teeth. Clinically, the fused teeth show excessive width and irregular anatomy and can complicate any endodontic intervention. CASE REPORT A 26-year-old male patient presented to the clinic with severe pain related to the lower right mandibular area. The dental examination revealed a large tilted and irregular fused third molar with the fourth molar.

AIM: The purpose of this report is to present a case of endodontic management of a dilacerated maxillary central incisor fused to supernumerary tooth unusually appearing as a labial tubercle using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) as a diagnostic aid.
BACKGROUND: Anterior teeth are commonly encountered with aberrant anatomical variations in the crown, number of roots, and root canals. Fusion is an infrequent developmental abnormality in shape of the tooth caused by the union of two adjacent tooth germs. A complete knowledge of such complex anatomies is mandatory for a successful root canal

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to establish human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) from supernumerary teeth and determine the effects of a 350-nm nano-patterned surface on adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation of hDPSCs.
DESIGN: Several surface markers were analysed by FACS to confirm the isolated cells as hDPSCs. To demonstrate the effects of a nano-patterned surface on the differentiation of hDPSCs, the cells were cultured on a nano-patterned surface with or without adipogenic or osteogenic induction factors. Cells were then stained with Oil red O or Alizarin red, and the lineage s

This case report describes the replacement of a missing maxillary right central incisor (tooth number 8) with a supernumerary tooth using cone beam computed tomography based digital planning, a three-dimensional printed donor replica tooth, osseodensification, and connective tissue grafting. A 36-year-old male presented with general periodontitis and a healed socket in the number 8 region 3 months postavulsion. Based on cone beam computed tomography scans, auto-transplantation of a single-rooted mandibular supernumerary tooth into a surgically created socket in the number 8 region was planned.

The aim of this study is to investigate whether the genetic, epigenetic and environmental factors that give rise to supernumeraries in the maxillary incisor region and larger dimensions of the adjacent maxillary incisors are also associated with variations in the morphology of the mandibular incisors. If so, this would contribute to understanding the distribution and interactions of factors during dental development and how these can be modelled. The sample consisted of 34 patients with supernumerary teeth in the maxillary anterior region, matched for gender, age and White Caucasian ethnicity

Dental trauma is a common oral condition in children. For single-type trauma to young permanent teeth, timely treatment often results in a high survival rate for both the teeth and the pulp. However, in cases of complex dental trauma or when supernumerary teeth are impacted near the apex of the injured tooth, the prognosis is less predictable. This article reports a case of root fracture in an immature maxillary permanent central incisor combined with impacted supernumerary tooth in the apical region. After supernumerary tooth extraction and pulp revascularization therapy, the case demonstrate

BACKGROUND: External surface resorption is pressure-induced resorption and occurs on the external surface of the root, pressure exerted by impacted teeth, is common causes of external surface resorption. Predictive risk factors of impacted supernumerary tooth-associated root resorption (ISTARR) mentioned in this article include supernumerary teeth and patient factors. To investigate the risk factors of impacted supernumerary tooth-associated root resorption and predict the incidence of root resorption.
METHODS: This restrospective study enrolled 324 patients with impacted supernumerary tooth.

INTRODUCTION: Cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD, MIM #119600) is an autosomal-dominant disorder characterized by hypoplasia or aplasia of clavicles, patent fontanelles and short stature. The responsible gene has been identified as RUNX2. CCD is also accompanied by characteristic dental abnormalities, e.g. supernumerary teeth, delayed eruption and impaction of permanent teeth. Intrafamilial variations of skeletal abnormalities are reported but those of dental abnormalities are obscure. To clarify this point, a precise examination of the dental features of CCD siblings having identical mutation was p

Supernumerary teeth in the molar area are classified as paramolars or distomolars based on location. They occur frequently in the maxilla, but only rarely in the mandible. These teeth are frequently fused with adjacent teeth. When this occurs, the pulp cavities may also be connected. This makes diagnosis and planning of endodontic treatment extremely difficult. Here we report a case of a mandibular second molar fused with a paramolar, necessitating dental pulp treatment. Intraoral and panoramic radiographs were obtained for an evaluation and diagnosis. Although the images revealed a supernumer

Concomitant presence of a supernumerary tooth in the primary dentition and another supernumerary tooth associated with permanent tooth in the same location is an uncommon condition. Presence of supernumerary tooth in the primary dentition itself is a rare phenomenon. Presented here, is the first such case of simultaneous presence of supernumerary tooth in primary and permanent maxillary lateral incisor region.

BACKGROUND: Supernumerary tooth is defined as any extra tooth or odontogenic structure that is formed on normal dentition. Supernumerary teeth cause such problems as deficiency in tooth growth, ectopic growth, displacement, crowding, diastema, odontogenic cyst formation, decay of the adjacent tooth, malocclusion, and esthetic problems. This study was conducted aiming at determining epidemiology of supernumerary teeth in Ardabil city in 2020. Materials & Methods. In this retrospective descriptive analytical study, 5000 panoramic radiographs of patients referring to Rad and Baser Oral and Maxill

Hyperdontia is the condition of having supernumerary teeth, or teeth which appear in addition to the regular number of teeth. It is a developmental anomaly and has been argued to arise from multiple aetiologies. The most common site is the maxillary incisor region; but the prevalence of more than three teeth supernumerary tooth is less than 1%. A case of 13 year male patient is reported with a multiple impacted supernumerary tooth in maxillary anterior region hindering the eruption of right permanent central incisor. The supernumerary tooth was treated via surgical approach followed by an inte

Impaction of permanent teeth during the replacement period is a relatively common occurrence in clinical practice. Tooth impaction occurs in the presence of factors that inhibit tooth eruption, such as supernumerary teeth or tumors. This is a report of permanent tooth impaction due to supernumerary teeth and pericoronal myxofibrous hyperplasia (PMH), a type of pericoronal hamartomatous lesion. An eight-year-old girl was diagnosed with an unerupted right maxillary central incisor. An inverted supernumerary tooth was present on the palatal side of the impacted central incisor, and PMH developed
