Deep learning-based infrared thermography reveals reproducible uniform and individual thermoregulatory responses during running.

Infrared thermography (IRT) has recently gained attention in the field of exercise physiology, due to its ability to monitor thermoregulatory and cardiopulmonary responses non-invasively and in real time during physical exercise. However, the reproducibility of intra-individual measurement and standardization of region-of-interest selection in relation to the acute exercise response remain inconclusive. This study aimed to examine the reproducibility and physiological relevance of specific skin temperature (TSK) metrics processed automatically using deep learning-assisted IRT during running, a

Vibration as an exercise modality: how it may work, and what its potential might be.

Whilst exposure to vibration is traditionally regarded as perilous, recent research has focussed on potential benefits. Here, the physical principles of forced oscillations are discussed in relation to vibration as an exercise modality. Acute physiological responses to isolated tendon and muscle vibration and to whole body vibration exercise are reviewed, as well as the training effects upon the musculature, bone mineral density and posture. Possible applications in sports and medicine are discussed. Evidence suggests that acute vibration exercise seems to elicit a specific warm-up effect, and

Exercise-induced asthma, anaphylaxis, and urticaria.

Exercise-induced asthma is a common but frequently undiagnosed problem. The patient may not wheeze, but rather have shortness of breath, chest tightening, and coughing. The coach and the physician must be particularly alert to the signs and symptoms of exercise-induced asthma to recognize this syndrome. Proper conditioning, warming up, inducing refractoriness, participating in sports less likely to provoke exercise-induced asthma, and the aggressive use of appropriate medications allow patients to enjoy sports and compete effectively. A rare but potentially fatal syndrome is exercise-induced a

Exercise-induced ischemic preconditioning and the potential application to cardiac rehabilitation: a systematic review.

Exercise-induced ischemic preconditioning (IPC) can be assessed by the results of the second of sequential exercise tests. Exercise-induced IPC is quantified by using the time to 1-mm ST-segment depression, the rate-pressure product at 1-mm ST-segment depression, the maximal ST-segment depression, and the rate-pressure product at the peak of exercise. Few studies reported whether exercise-induced IPC could be used in cardiovascular rehabilitation. A systematic review of the literature limited to human studies was performed using electronic databases, and the main key words were ischemic precon
