The role of gender, work family conflict, and gender role attitudes in daily parental wellbeing.

A typical day or week looks very different for modern fathers and mothers, where women still fulfil more family responsibilities. While, gender differences in subjective well-being are widely documented, gender is rarely considered to explain fluctuations in daily well-being. We addressed this gap while also considering related concepts like the work-family conflict and gender role attitudes. Participants (individual parents) completed a baseline questionnaire covering sociodemographic background, work-family conflict, and gender role attitudes. Additionally, they filled out daily well-being s

Mapping the scope of perceived cultural resources across employee satisfaction judgments: Evidence from 153,123 employee narratives.

Organizational culture is multidimensional, yet research rarely compares how the same cultural dimension relates to multiple employee judgments. This study defines resource scope as the design-contingent profile of a measured resource's signed and adjusted associations across a specified outcome set. It is a comparative description, not a new mechanism or stable organizational property. It analyzes overall satisfaction, career advancement, compensation and benefits, and work-life balance in 153,123 reviews from 388 South Korean firms (2018-2022). Text measures combined theory-guided dictionari

Burnout symptoms, burnout rate, well-being, and academia-related stress factors in medical students : A study in two private medical schools in Austria.

BACKGROUND: Burnout among medical students is a well-known problem, but only few data from Austria are available. This study's goal was to examine the prevalence of burnout symptoms in two private universities in Austria and to identify the stressors contributing to it. METHODS: Medical students in their second year or at later stages of their studies were asked to complete an online questionnaire. Using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS), the three subscales emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced academic efficacy were measured. The six potentially burnout-related str

OBJECTIVE: The main aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between working from home, work/life conflict and mental wellbeing in Europe during the pandemic. METHODS: The study was based on a large-scale, online survey that was conducted

Burnout Factors in Neurology: A Survey Assessing Key Factors Among US Academic Faculty.

OBJECTIVES: Burnout can impair clinical judgment and is prevalent across all medical subspecialties. Neurology, in particular, is associated with high rates of burnout and low satisfaction with work-life balance. Faculty from 19 academic neurology departments in the United States participated. Demographic, career, compensation, equity, domestic circumstances, parental leave, and burnout data were collected as part of the Women in Neurology Collaborative Study. Stat

Parenting stress and work-family balance as determinants of parent-child relationship quality in dual-earner families in Türkiye.

BACKGROUND: In Türkiye, as in many countries, the increasing prevalence of dual-earner families has intensified the challenge of balancing employment and childcare responsibilities, often in the absence of adequate institutional or workplace support. This strain can affect family relationships, yet the interplay between work-family balance, parenting stress, and parent-child relationship quality remains underexplored in the Turkish context. This study aims to examine parent-child relationships, parenting stress, and work-family balance in dual-earner families, and to investigate how these proc

Cultivating a "Feminine" Surgical Culture: Lessons from Indonesia.

BACKGROUND: Although the number of female physicians in the United States has been increasing, most practicing surgeons in the United States are men. By contrast, Indonesia has achieved notable gender parity among surgeons, with the number of women practicing as plastic surgeons projected to soon surpass that of men. Achieving greater female representation in plastic surgery is important for delivering high-quality care, especially in the face of physician shortages and high burnout rates. METHODS: This survey study was conducted at the 26th annual scientific meeting of the Indonesian Associa

Well-Being of Health Care Professionals Treating Opioid Use Disorder During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Results From a National Survey.

OBJECTIVE: The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically affected health care delivery, effects that are juxtaposed with health care professional (HCP) burnout and mental distress. The Opioid Use Disorder Provider COVID-19 Survey was conducted to better understand the impact of COVID-19 on clinical practice and HCP well-being. METHODS: The cross-sectional survey was e-mailed to listservs with approximately 157,000 subscribers of diverse professions between July 14 and August 15, 2020. Two dependent variables evaluated HCP functioning and work-life balance. Independent variables assessed organization

The AMP-activated protein kinase beta 1 subunit modulates erythrocyte integrity.

Failure to maintain a normal in vivo erythrocyte half-life results in the development of hemolytic anemia. Half-life is affected by numerous factors, including energy balance, electrolyte gradients, reactive oxygen species, and membrane plasticity. The heterotrimeric AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is an evolutionarily conserved serine/threonine kinase that acts as a critical regulator of cellular energy balance. Previous roles for the alpha 1 and gamma 1 subunits in the control of erythrocyte survival have been reported. In the work described here, we studied the role of the beta 1 subuni

Surfing Across Life Domains: A Qualitative Study on the Role of Leisure Activities in Occupational Well-Being.

Work-related stress and difficulties in managing the work-life interface represent significant challenges for psychological well-being. While research has increasingly examined coping and recovery processes, less attention has been paid to the role of nature-based leisure activities in supporting these dynamics. This qualitative study explores how adult workers who regularly practice surfing use this activity to cope with work-related stress and how it relates to the development of personal resources and the work-life interface. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 Italian workers
