Cultural Humility, Nursing Students, and Aging Adults: A Descriptive Phenomenological Study.

This study explored how engagement with older adults promotes the development of cultural humility in prelicensure nurses. Using a descriptive phenomenological approach informed by Mezirow's transformative learning theory and Kolb's experiential learning theory, nine nursing students were interviewed following their volunteer experience at an international senior athletic competition. Four themes emerged: reframing aging, patient-centered connection, dismantling power dynamics, and shifting from medicalization to holistic care. Findings suggest that meaningful interactions with older adults fo

The Impact of Biases for Early-Career Women in Medicine: "It's the Little Day-to-Day Microaggressions".

BACKGROUND: Women physicians face multiple systemic and social biases in the clinical setting that erode mental and physical well-being. Gender-based discrimination was reported by 76% of early-career women physicians, decreasing to 57% for mid-career, and 36% for late-career. While these trends suggest that these biases may diminish with career progression, they remain a persistent burden of women physician's careers. This article offers a unique contribution by centering early-career women family physicians, a group underrepresented in qualitative research on workplace bias. This article foc

"Not only standing for, but standing up for diversity": an intersectional qualitative analysis of how university students embody and resist discrimination.

BACKGROUND: Universities are key social institutions that shape student health, wellbeing, and future trajectories. However, they are also embedded in, and contribute to, existing social inequities. Students holding marginalised positions consistently report experiences of discrimination within higher education. Such experiences adversely affect their mental health, sense of belonging, and academic trajectories. Much of this research relies on single-axis analyses, failing to capture the complexity of discrimination. Therefore, this study takes an intersectional, qualitative multi-level approa
