PURPOSE: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of topical plus subconjunctival anaesthesia for secondary implantation of foldable intraocular lens (IOL) (Ophtec PC 425Y) in eyes without capsule support through a self-sealing incision.
METHODS: We reviewed the medical records of 22 patients (22 eyes) who received topical plus subconjunctival anaesthesia for scleral fixation of a foldable IOL through small incision. The scleral incision technique was used for IOL scleral fixation. Twelve eyes had traumatic cataract, seven had postphacoemulsification complications and three were aphakic. We studied

BACKGROUND: In 2020, 76 million people around the world had glaucoma, and by 2040, that number is predicted to rise to 111.8 million. Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) has become an effective method to treat open-angle glaucoma. It lowers the pressure inside the eye by improving the drainage mechanism of the eye's aqueous humor. MIGS devices, such as the iStent® and Hydrus®, aid in aqueous outflow and patency maintenance. However, their long-term safety and efficacy require ongoing post-market surveillance across diverse patient populations. It's important to know how safe implanted d

AIM: To review the efficacy and safety of two common postoperative regimens following Kahook Dual Blade goniotomy with phacoemulsification cataract extraction (KDB-CE).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a retrospective review of eyes undergoing KDB-CE from May 2016 to 2018 by a single surgeon. Almost 12-month follow-up data were assessed for two common postop regimens-treatment with (1) topical prednisolone acetate 1% with pilocarpine 1% (pred-pilo) or (2) difluprednate 0.05% postoperatively. Postoperative results were compared to each respective baseline intraocular pressure (IOP) levels.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the safety, effectiveness and complications of non-penetrating trabecular surgery (NPTS). METHODS A total of 168 patients ( 258 eyes) of primary open angle glaucoma were divided into 2 groups randomly, and they were matched according to the age, sex and severity of disease. NPTS with reticulated hyaluronic acid implant was taken in one group, and traditional trabeculectomy was taken in the other. Pre-a2operative mean intraocular pressure (IOP) in the NPTS group and trabeculectomy group was (31.85 +/- 4.83) and (32.59 +/- 4.62) mm Hg (1a(c)mm Hg = 0.133 kPa), respectively

PURPOSE: To review the effectiveness and safety of the Ahmed ClearPath (ACP) glaucoma drainage device (GDD) based on current clinical evidence. METHODS: A comprehensive literature review was conducted using electronic databases, including PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. The search adhered to PRISMA guidelines and encompassed studies published from database inception through June 2025. Eligible articles reported clinical outcomes of ACP implantation in human subjects with primary or secondary glaucomas. Extracted data included intraocular pressure (IOP)

BACKGROUND: Childhood eye injuries are one of the most common causes of acquired unilateral blindness. In this study, our purpose was to investigate the demographics, etiology, and outcome of pediatric patients with ocular injury.
METHODS: The charts of children with ocular trauma who presented to Baskent University Hospitals, between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. All patients who were under 16 years of age were included. Data were collected on age, sex, time of trauma, injury type, associated injuries, treatments, visual impairment, intraocular pressure

BACKGROUND: Glaucoma is an optic neuropathy that leads to vision loss and blindness. It is the second most common cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. The main treatment for glaucoma aims to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in order to slow or prevent further vision loss. IOP can be lowered with medications, and laser or incisional surgeries. Trabeculectomy is the most common incisional surgical procedure to treat glaucoma. Device-modified trabeculectomy is intended to improve drainage of the aqueous humor to lower IOP. Trabeculectomy-modifying devices include Ex-PRESS, Ologen, amniotic

IMPORTANCE: To our knowledge, this is the first study to describe the correlation of anterior chamber bleeding after laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) and antiplatelet therapy.
OBJECTIVE: To determine the incidence and amount of anterior chamber bleeding after laser peripheral iridotomy in patients whose condition is suggestive of primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACS) who continued their antiplatelet or anticoagulant treatment before undergoing LPI compared with when they discontinued treatment.
DESIGN AND SETTING: A prospective controlled trial.

PURPOSE: To present the modified surgery technique of new suture probe canaloplasty with a specially prepared monofilament 4.0 polypropylene suture combined with suprachoroidal drainage (ScD) and collagen sheet implantation for non-penetrating glaucoma surgery.
METHODS: Prospective study with a twelve months follow-up. A standard 4/0 polypropylene suture (ProleneTM by Ethicon; thickness: approximately 250 m) is cut and shaped with an ophthalmic knife (MANI® Crescent Knife, Mani Inc 8-3 Kiyohara Industrial Park, Utsunomiya, Tochigi 321-3231, Japan) to create a blunt end without sharp or compre

Objective: To evaluate the preliminary efficacy and safety of penetrating canaloplasty for treating primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG). Methods: It is a prospective interventional case series study. Twenty-two patients (24 eyes) with PACG were treated with penetrating canaloplasty (video attached) at the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from June 2015 to August 2018. This modified canaloplasty was performed by making a window at the corneal-scleral bed. Aqueous was redirected to the opening of Schlemm's canal after the canaloplasty with intension sutures. PURPOSE: Nonpenetrating trabeculectomy, also called nonpenetrating deep sclerectomy (NPDS), is a filtering surgery where the internal wall of Schlemm's canal is excised, allowing subconjunctival filtration without actually entering the anterior chamber. This, technique was developed to minimize the complications of trabeculectomy. The authors investigated its safety and efficacy in a retrospective noncomparative study.
METHODS: A total of 258 eyes (179 patients, mean age 61.4 +/- 11.56 years) with uncontrolled open angle glaucoma with prior medical therapy were treated. NPDS with a biocompati

BACKGROUND: Primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) is characterized by a rise in intraocular pressure (IOP) secondary to aqueous outflow obstruction, with relative pupillary block being the most common underlying mechanism. There is increasing evidence that lens extraction may relieve pupillary block and thereby improve IOP control. As such, comparing the effectiveness of lens extraction against other commonly used treatment modalities can help inform the decision-making process.
OBJECTIVES: To assess the effectiveness of lens extraction compared with other interventions in the treatment of ch

IMPORTANCE: Frequent prophylactic intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injections can reduce risk of progression to vision-threatening complications in nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR). A refillable drug delivery system for continuous intraocular ranibizumab release could offer less frequent treatment regimens.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the Port Delivery System (PDS) with ranibizumab, 100 mg/mL, with refill-exchange procedures every 36 weeks (PDS Q36W), vs no PDS (control) in moderately severe to severe NPDR without center-involved diabetic macular edema (CI-DME), mon
