PURPOSE/BACKGROUND: Attentional bias toward drug-related cues is considered to be an indication of neurocognitive processes associated with drug dependence. While this phenomenon has been shown in other addictive substances, whether hypnotic medication would lead to similar processes remains an issue to be investigated. The present study examined attentional bias toward drug-related cues in long-term hypnotic users and the effect of negative affect on this process.

Infantile spasms are a unique disorder of infancy and early childhood. Twelve patients with benign juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (BJME) representing 4% of our population of epileptics (n = 275) are presented. Only two patients (17%) had myoclonic jerks as the only seizure type. Seven (58%) had generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS) and myoclonus. Three patients (25%) had absence seizures (AS), GTCS, and myoclonic jerks. Electroencephalographic evidence of photosensitivity was found in four (33%). BACKGROUND: Growth hormone (GH) improves wound healing and ameliorates pediatric postburn tissue catabolism associated with deficient endogenous GH/IGF-1 levels. Expense, parenteral administration, and compliance have limited widespread usage. We report clinical and video-EEG findings in 11 adults with the syndro me of eyelid myoclonia with absences (EMA). Prevalence was 2.7% among all epilepsies and 12.9% among idiopathic generalized epilepsies (IGE) with typical absences.
