BACKGROUND: Hallermann in 1948 and Streiff in 1950 described patients characterised by "bird face", congenital cataract, mandibular hypoplasia, and dental abnormalities. The new syndrome was later defined as Hallermann-Streiff Syndrome (HSS), underlining the differences with regard to Franceschetti's mandibulofacial dysostosis.
CASE REPORT: Examination of a white male affected by Hallermann-Streiff Syndrome revealed facial characteristics typical of the "bird face" in HSS. The nose appeared thin, sharp and hooked; the prominence of the chin was absent in the lateral view; a marked microstomia

Background Premature loss of primary teeth may lead to arch length reduction, space loss, and malocclusion in children, and space maintainers play an important role in preserving dental arch integrity during the mixed dentition period. Digital workflows, computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), and three-dimensional (3D) printing technologies have increasingly influenced pediatric space-maintainer design and fabrication. This study aimed to map global research trends in space-maintainer research in pediatric dentistry, identify the principal contributing countries, authors

AIM: Severe caries in mixed dentition frequently affects mandibular first permanent molars, often necessitating full-coverage restorations. Stainless steel crowns (SSCs) and porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns are among the most commonly used options. This study aimed to compare the internal fit and fracture resistance of SSCs and PFMs in both intact and restored mandibular first molars.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty extracted mandibular first molars were randomly divided into four groups: (1) intact teeth-SSCs, (2) intact teeth-PFMs, (3) restored teeth-SSCs, and (4) restored teeth-PFMs. In

INTRODUCTION: Forensic age estimation is essential in clinical and legal settings, particularly in children, where reliable and non-invasive methods are required. Tooth eruption follows a relatively consistent developmental pattern and may serve as a practical indicator of chronological age during the mixed-dentition period. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between cumulative tooth eruption status and chronological age in children and to develop a predictive model for age estimation.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted on 120 children aged 6

African agriculture faces triple threats of climate change, population growth and inequality, necessitating sustainability research in agriculture that comprehensively examines social, economic, environmental, and socio-political trade-offs. To examine sustainable beef production in Botswana, this study used a mixed-method approach to explore Feedlot and Free-range cattle management systems. First, competing but overlapping factors of environmental, economic, and social sustainability in beef production were identified from literature review, and a conceptual framework for sustainability was u

AIM: The use of maxillary protraction appliances (MPAs) and Facemask (FM), with or without a rapid maxillary expansion (RME), have become a routine orthopaedic treatment procedure for the treatment of Class III in growing individuals; several authors have suggested that maxillary protraction could have a positive impact on airway dimensions. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy of maxillary protraction appliances (MPAs), with or without a rapid maxillary expansion (RME), on airway dimensions in children in mixed or early permanent dentition.

Introduction The mandibular buccal shelf is a reliable site for extra-alveolar orthodontic miniscrew placement. The primary stability of temporary anchorage devices depends largely on cortical bone thickness and overall bone morphology. However, age-related variations in buccal shelf bone dimensions have not been fully established, particularly between adolescents and adults with similar growth patterns. The aim of the present study was to evaluate and compare the vertical and horizontal bone thickness of the mandibular buccal shelf in adolescent and adult populations using cone-beam computed
