This study investigated the odor compounds from different areas in a landfill site, which included the municipal solid waste (MSW)-related area, the leachate-related area and the sludge-related area. Nine sampling points were placed and 35 types of odorous substances were measured and quantified from these grabbed samples. Combining voltage and Ca(2+) imaging allows the correlation of electrical and chemical activity at sub-cellular level. Here we describe a novel apparatus designed to obtain simultaneous voltage and Ca(2+) measurements with single-trial resolution from sites as small as a few microns. In this study, a two-stage thermal desorption-gas chromatography (TTD-GC) method was established to determine eight benzene homologues (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, p-xylene, m-xylene, o-xylene, styrene, and p-tert-butyltoluene) in airport ambient air and aircraft cabin air.
