Brachial and axillary plexus blockade was carried out on volunteers using a mixture of etidocaine 1% with adrenaline, and bupivacine 0,5% with adrenaline. This paper is based on the first comprehensive study of the health and educational status of children in kinship care, an increasingly frequent arrangement where children are placed in the care of relatives, mostly following neglect or abuse. An analysis has been carried out on the basis of endocrinological and psychosomatic studies of the influence of steroid hormones, acting via probable transmitter substances, on the sexual response in women. From a review in the literature it can be concluded that among other factors the endocrine state of the women determines her sexual response and behaviour. However, the present lack of specific psychological tests is pointed out, as well as the absence of relevant hormonal data to the sexual sphere, both normal and pathological.

Five cases are reported in which confusional states and total anterograde amnesia occurred after oral intake of recommended doses of midazolam, a new ultra-short acting benzodiazepine. Particular risk factors were not present, and in three out of five patients the complications occurred with the first administration. Analysis of these cases and experimental data reported in the literature suggest that the extreme response curve of midazolam may be responsible for these complications. The potential danger of the patients' actions in these states is pointed out.

This study examined the prevalence and clinical correlates of sexually inappropriate behaviors in all youth treated at a tertiary care public sector psychiatric hospital over a 5-year period. A retrospective chart review was completed on 499 subjects. Subjects were grouped in four mutually exclusive categories: no inappropriate sexual behaviors (n = 296), hypersexual (n = 82), exposing (n = 39) and victimizing (n = 82) behaviors. PURPOSE: Few studies have addressed the psychological characteristics of adolescents with binge eating disorder (BED). No research has focused on the psychological functioning of these adolescents' parents or on the prevalence of traumatic experiences among them.
METHODS: In this study, 202 adolescents aged 11-13 and their parents were recruited from mental health clinics to complete the youth self-report (YSR), the response evaluation measure for youth (REM-71), the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), the Symptom Check-List (SCL-90-R), and the traumatic experience checklist (TEC).
