OBJECTIVES: Among the benign tumours of the parotid gland, basal cell adenoma (BCA) is far less common than pleomorphic adenoma (PA). MR features of BCA, including diffusion-weighted imaging and dynamic contrast-enhanced study, have not been previously described. Assessment of the crucial MR features of BCA appears to offer beneficial clues for distinguishing BCA from PA.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed 14 BCAs and 179 PAs in the parotid gland, collected between March 2000 and May 2012, from the MRI database.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to assess imaging findings of parapharyngeal space (PPS) pleomorphic adenoma (PA) in comparison with parotid gland (PG) PA retrospectively.

Forty-two patients with prolactin-secreting pituitary adenoma (prolactinoma) demonstrated by a radiologically abnormal sella turcica and hyperprolactinaemia were treated with bromocriptine. A 62-year-old woman was diagnosed with bladder urothelial carcinoma in situ. Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) was performed, followed by intravesical therapy with bacillus Calmette Guérin. Two months later, a papillary lesion was observed around the scar. INTRODUCTION: Basal cell adenoma (BCA) is a rare benign epithelial tumour of the salivary gland majorly involving the parotid gland, and rarely the submandibular gland.
CASE REPORT: We describe a rare case of BCA of the submandibular gland diagnosed preoperatively using fine needle aspiration cytology in a 60-year-old woman presenting with painless submandibular swelling. The surgery went uneventfully, and the histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis.

Involvement of the nervous system with sarcoidosis is seen clinically in approximately 5-15% of cases. In most cases, lesions are localized to the leptomeninges and cranial nerves, and rarely to the pituitary gland, leading to endocrinologic abnormalities. We report on an original clinical case demonstrating the effectiveness of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) scan in the diagnosis and monitoring of systemic sarcoidosis with probable pituitary involvement.

Tuberculosis of central nervous system accounts for only 1% of tuberculosis cases worldwide, of which pituitary is an extremely unusual site. We report a case of pituitary tuberculosis in a 29-year-old female presenting with complains of headache and diminished vision on right eye. It was misdiagnosed as pituitary adenoma on radiology. Villous adenoma of the genitourinary system is rarely encountered by the general urologist. Although commonly seen in a colorectal practice, this tumor has been infrequently described in the urethra or bladder. In the genitourinary tract, this tumor appears to have excellent survival when isolated; however, it does have an association with adenocarcinoma of the genitourinary or gastrointestinal tract. Here we present a case of villous adenoma of the urethra managed with a multidisciplinary approach, which led to discovery of invasive adenocarcinoma of the rectum.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Recurrent pleomorphic adenoma (RPA) is uncommon. Treatment selection is based on the likely possibility of minimizing the risk of tumour recurrence, avoiding local functional and cosmetic sequelae, and eradicates the possibility of metastatic or malignant transformation.
