Previous work has shown that caloric vestibular stimulation may evoke elementary visual hallucinations in healthy humans, such as different colored lines or dots. A 51-year-old woman presented with anosognosia for hemiplegia (AHP), neglect, and a complete loss of vision, for which she was almost immediately aware. Autonomic dysreflexia (AD) is a syndrome that consists of facial flushing, excessive sweating, nasal congestion, throbbing headache and paroxysmal hypertension which may occur in response to bladder distension in patients with spinal cord lesions above the T6 level. We report the case of a C2 quadriplegic patient who developed clinical features of AD along with cortical blindness and seizures after administration of meglumine (Hypaque) for diagnostic cystogram.

A case is presented in which a patient with rheumatoid damage to the cervical spine causing cervical cord and vertebral artery compression sustained transient cortical blindness with a partial left hemiparesis. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed anterior subluxation of middle cervical vertebrae, separation of the odontoid peg with resultant atlantoaxial subluxation, and proliferative pannus formation. The patient was almost symptom-free after transoral decompression and posterior cervical fusion.

Linear skull fractures are relatively common in children, however, it is rarer to see depressed fractures. This report details the case of a 7-year-old boy who was admitted to the emergency department with complete blindness after having experienced an in-car traffic accident. Two long-surviving cases of cortical blindness are described, one total and the other total except for detection of sudden transitions from light to darkness and darkness to light.
