Crotalus durissus rattlesnakes are responsible for the most lethal cases of snakebites in Brazil. Crotalus durissus collilineatus subspecies is related to a great number of accidents in Southeast and Central West regions, but few studies on its venom composition have been carried out to date. BACKGROUND: Naja mandalayensis is a spitting cobra from Myanmar. To the best of our knowledge, no studies on this venom composition have been conducted so far. This can be modified by conditions such as ischemia or poisoning with specific drugs, with the myocardium becoming more dependent on carbohydrate metabolism for energy. Myeloid cells are critical to the development of fibrosis following muscle injury; however, the mechanism of their role in fibrosis formation remains unclear. In this study, we demonstrate that myeloid cell-derived TGF-β1 signaling is increased in a profibrotic ischemia reperfusion and cardiotoxin muscle injury model. Snake venoms are rich sources of biologically active proteins and polypeptides.
