The treatment for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) has not changed for more than 20 years while the prognosis for the patients is still poor and most of them survive less than 1 year after diagnosis. The standard of care for GBM is comprised of surgical resection followed by radiotherapy and oral chemotherapy with temozolomide. The state-of-the art therapy of cutaneous T cell lymphoma (CTCL) is reviewed. Commonly used treatments for early-stage (patch/plaque) mycosis fungoides (MF) include topical corticosteroids, mechlorethamine, carmustine, ultraviolet light B and PUVA. A review of current therapy for cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) (mycosis fungoides and erythrodermic CTCL) is presented. BACKGROUND: Standard treatment for high grade glioma (HGG) usually entails surgery (either biopsy or resection) followed by radiotherapy plus or minus temozolomide. Implanting wafers impregnated with chemotherapy agents into the resection cavity represents a novel means of delivering drugs directly to the resection cavity with potentially fewer systemic side effects. It is not clear how effective this modality is or whether it should be recommended as part of standard care for patients with HGG.
