Castleman's disease (CD) in trachea is rarely reported to date. This report introduces a case of CD in trachea with emphasis on its radiological presentation onCT. A female patient was admitted at our emergency department with dyspnoea. Plain and enhanced CT revealed a mass with distinct border and marked enhancement. Tracheotomy was planned and it turned out to be CD of hyaline type on pathological examination. Two similar case reports on intratracheal CD from 1954 to 2015 were reviewed as we searched in PubMed using key words "endotracheal Castleman's disease" or "Castleman's disease in trac

Castleman's disease (CD) is a rare lymphoproliferative disorder of uncertain cause. The most common site of involvement is the mediastinum. Endotracheal CD is extremely rare. We report a case of unicentric, hyaline-vascular type CD presenting as an obstructive tracheal mass. The tumor was successfully managed by rigid bronchoscopy with argon plasma coagulation. There was no recurrence at the 2-month follow-up visit.

OBJECTIVE: We report one case of Castleman's disease and review published literature.
METHODS: We report the case of a 58 year old man who was referred to our institution because of lumbar pain. A computed tomography scan revealed a retroperitoneal mass. Open surgical exploration and excision were carried out. Finally pathological examination addressed the diagnosis.
RESULTS: Pathological examination demonstrated findings characteristic of unicentric hyaline vascular type of Castleman's disease. After surgical excision and 12 months follow-up there is no evidence of recurrence disease.

A rare case of Castleman's disease with myasthenia gravis is reported. A 55-year-old woman with bilateral ptosis, speech impairment, and severe dyspnea had been previously diagnosed with myasthenia gravis. Computed tomography showed a 5 cm × 3 cm paratracheal mass in the mediastinum, thought to be an ectopic thymoma. Two days after surgical resection, the patient suddenly developed dyspnea. Postoperative myasthenic crisis was diagnosed, and plasmapheresis was performed. Her general condition improved, and her subsequent course was uneventful. The final pathological diagnosis was mediastinal so

CONTEXT: Angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia or Castleman's disease is a rare clinical condition. Knowledge about etiology and physiopathology; and treatment management as well are yet to be defined. Unicentric presentation of this disease affecting single lymph nodes in the mediastinum seems to be the most common presentation. Castleman's disease localized in the pancreas topographic area that mimics a pancreatic neoplasm is an even more uncommon event, with available published data of less than 15 cases until now.
CASE REPORT: We present a 64-year-old male patient with a six-month past h

Gastrointestinal Castleman's disease is very rare. We report the case of a 52-year-old patient with asymptomatic rectal polyp, which was diagnosed as Castleman's disease. The rectal polyp was identified during preoperative workup of gastric adenocarcinoma. The rectal polyp was 4-cm long with a short, thick stalk. Pathologic examination of the resected polyp showed lymph follicle hyperplasia with remarkable lymphocyte and plasma cell infiltration in the submucosal area, consistent with plasma cell type of Castleman's disease. This is the first report of Castleman's disease of the rectum concomi

OBJECTIVES: To describe, retrospectively, the Australian experience of multi-centric Castleman's disease (MCD) in the setting of HIV infection, specifically with the advent of HAART, and newer chemotherapeutic agents.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: HIV-infected patients diagnosed with MCD since 1994, were identified from three major HIV treatment centres in Australia. Demographic and disease characteristic variables were collated by the National Centre in HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research.
RESULTS: Eleven patients were identified with MCD. Medial follow up was 46 (18-57) months. All had CD4 cell

Castleman's disease presents as a peculiar type of lymph node hyperplasia. Traditionally, the disease has been classified on clinical grounds (solitary or multicentric) and by histologic appearance (hyaline vascular pattern, plasma cell predominance, or mixed lesions). It is now increasingly clear that there are different etiologies for each of these different subtypes. Reported associations include POEMS syndrome (polyneuropathy, organomegally, endocrinopathy, monoclonal gammopathy, and skin changes), paraneoplastic pemphigus, Hodgkin's disease, and follicular dendritic cell sarcoma. We prese

A rare case of Castleman's disease of retroperitoneum is reported. The patient was an operated case of serous papillary carcinoma ovary. She was found to have an abdominal mass during follow-up. The mass was considered to be metastatic in origin and was resected. Histologically, it was diagnosed as a case of Castleman's disease.

Castleman's disease, angio-follicular lymph node hyperplasia, is a relatively rare benign tumour. It typically arises in the mediastinum. We report a unique case arising in the erector spinae muscle. The case demonstrates the importance of radiological investigation and embolisation prior to obtaining a tissue diagnosis and subsequent surgical excision.

The authors present six cases of Castleman's disease. One was located in the left middle lung near the lung root, one in the right posterior mediastinum, one in the gallbladder fossa, one in the left perinephric space, and the last two in the mesenteric region. All the hyaline-vascular type showed good enhancement after contrast medium injection. The only one case of plasma cell type located in mesentery was not enhanced after contrast injection. Ultrasound of abdomen was performed in one of the six patients, which showed homogeneous and hypoechoic in echo-pattern.

This unusual clinicopathologic entity was first recognized by Castleman. Onset is usually in adolescence or early adulthood, occasionally childhood. A single, large mass with no tendency to compress develops, usually in the mediastinum, occasionally at other lymph node sites (superficial, retroperitoneal, abdominal), and exceptionally in extranodal locations. A variety of systemic manifestations may be found, including fever, anemia, hypergammaglobulinemia, and a broad spectrum of inflammatory and autoimmune disorders, presumably associated with specific humoral factors produced by the tumor.

The term multicentric Castleman disease (MCD) encompasses a spectrum of conditions that share some overlapping clinicopathological manifestations. The fundamental pathogenetic mechanism involves dysregulated cytokine activity, causing systemic inflammatory symptoms as well as lymphadenopathy. Some of the histological changes in lymph nodes resemble the histology of unicentric Castleman disease (UCD). However, based on current knowledge, the use of this shared nomenclature is unfortunate, since these disorders differ in pathogenesis and prognosis. In Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV)

Castleman's disease (CD) is a unique lymphoproliferative disorder. It commonly occurs in the mediastinum, neck, axilla, and abdomen, and retroperitoneal involvement is rare. Here we report a unique case of CD in the pelvis. Laparotomy was performed and surgery was complicated by adhesions and vascularity. Total surgical duration was Five hours and 45 min with 4.5 L of blood loss. Ten pints of blood was transfused. The mass was histopathologically diagnosed as hyaline-vascular CD. The patient was free of recurrence after 10 years of follow-up.

INTRODUCTION: Castleman's disease (CD), first described by Benjamin Castleman in 1954, is a giant or angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia, described as a rare monotypic polyclonal B-cell lymphoproliferative disorder with an incompletely understood pathogenesis and variable clinical behavior. This study aimed to determine the incidence of CD diagnosis over an 11-year period. Additionally, the study aimed to describe the demographic, laboratory, and pathological features of CD.
METHODS: This is a retrospective study where the demographic and laboratory data were retrieved from the Tygerberg A

Castleman's disease (CD) also known as angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia represents a group of uncommon non-clonal lymphoproliferation. We herein report a case of CD associated with carcinoma of the gall bladder. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first of its kind and has not been reported in the past. The hypothesis regarding the aetiopathogenesis of CD is that it is associated with interleukin-6 surges. This may be explained by the overproduction of IL-6 by tumour cells or IL-6 production due to a long-standing/smouldering localised inflammatory response. An important question rai
