The aim of this study was to evaluate histological aspects of the pulp-dentin complex of dogs submitted to pulpotomy and capped with ethyl-cyanoacrylate and calcium hydroxide. Thirty dog teeth were divided into 2 groups of 15 as follows: Group 1 - ethyl-cyanoacrylate; Group 2 - calcium hydroxide. The pulpotomies were carried out following all of the treatment precautions recommended for dogs. PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy and histology of 2-octyl cyanoacrylate in conjunctival wound closure in rabbits.
METHODS: Ten eyes of 10 New Zealand white rabbits were used. Eight rabbits had conjunctival wounds that were repaired with 2-octyl cyanoacrylate. Two rabbits were killed at 1 week and two rabbits were killed at 2 weeks and their conjunctivae were examined histologically. From two additional rabbits, conjunctival strips were obtained that underwent tensile strength testing.

Seventeen eyes of thirteen patients with Mooren's ulcer were treated with a combination therapy of local and systemic steroids, conjunctival resection, superficial keratectomy and application of cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive. Although allergic reactions to cyanoacrylate adhesives are extremely rare, they should not be considered impossible. We report a young hairdresser who developed an occupational allergic contact dermatitis to 2 "instant glues" used to attach false hair. The eczematous eruption involved the fingers and face slightly but mainly the eyelids. Patch test reactions were strongly positive to ethyl cyanoacrylate adhesives.

Indications for medial blowout fracture repair may include persistent diplopia due to entrapped orbital contents or enophthalmos. In such cases a barrier must be placed along the medial orbital wall to prevent recurrence of entrapment and to minimize enophthalmos. Firm fixation of these barriers may be technically difficult. In seven patients silicone sheets were fixed in place along the medial orbital wall with butyl-2-cyanoacrylate cement. These patients have done well postoperatively with a mean time since surgery of 21 months.
