Comments on recent community water fluoridation studies.

Water fluoridation is a public health measure to reduce levels of dental caries in populations. A report of the recently completed CATFISH study has been published. This was the first UK evaluation of fluoridation introduction for many years; it was carefully designed and executed and is welcomed. The purpose of this article is to highlight the 180-page report of the study and comment on some aspects to aid interpretation of the findings. Significant features were that two cohorts, from birth and from five years, were followed for six years in a fluoridated and a non-fluoridated area, and clin

[Effects of fluoride in drinking water on health of deciduous teeth].

INTRODUCTION: High incidence of decayed deciduous teeth, as well as lack of adequate therapy, makes tooth decay prevention very important. One of the simplest ways to reduce tooth decay is fluoridation of drinking water. The optimal concentration of fluoride in drinking water is 1 ppm/l, and many waters naturally contain this quantity. Waters in Vojvodina are mainly poor in fluoride, except in a few regions. It has long been postulated that fluoride has a prophyilactic effect during intrauterine life. Today a theory of greater local impact of fluoride has been accepted, as well as its role in

Effectiveness of Mobile Health Applications Compared to Conventional Motivational Interviewing in Improving Toothbrushing Duration and Its Impact on Dental Caries Among 6-12-year-old Children: 12-month Randomized Controlled Trial.

AIM AND BACKGROUND: Toothbrushing for 2 minutes twice daily is a well-established preventive strategy against dental caries. However, compliance among children remains poor, and traditional motivational methods often fail to sustain behavior change. mHealth apps offer interactive features to improve brushing habits, yet evidence linking their use to improved brushing duration and clinical outcomes remains limited. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of two dental apps (Brush DJ app and Brushing Time app) with conventional face-to-face motivational interviewing in improving toothbrush
