A progressive nonedematous keratopathy developed in a 36-year-old patient after she was struck in the eye by glass fragments. Biopsy material that was examined by electron microscopy and electron beam microanalysis demonstrated the presence of intracorneal glass fragments, which could not be detected clinically. Retained intracorneal glass, generally thought to be completely inert, can be associated with a chronic keratopathy.

Prior to the shedding of human deciduous teeth, odontoclastic resorption takes place at the pulpal surface of the coronal dentin, and this resorption occasionally extends coronally from the dentinoenamel junction into the enamel. After the end of resorption, however, the resorbed enamel surface is repaired by the deposition of a cementum-like tissue. The association of aluminum dusts and pulmonary fibrosis with emphysema in workers in the aluminum processing and manufacturing industries is well established. The early and minimal reactions of the lungs to the aluminum dusts are not known. This report presents the first case of pulmonary granulomatosis associated with aluminum inhalation. We present a very typical case of pseudo-xanthoma elasticum (PXE) with very remarkable cutaneous lesions, a great number of angioid streaks and, at the moment, with no involvement of the peripheral vascular system. From a genetic standpoint, we believe it must be considered as recessive Type I. We investigated diverse groups of fish species to determine whether the fluorine (F) contents of the dental hard tissues were related to baseline serum F levels. This study was undertaken to determine the fluoride distribution in human deciduous cementum. Ten pairs of sound deciduous canines, extracted from children aged 6-9 years, were examined. The teeth were sectioned, and specimens of cementum were removed from the buccal or lingual aspect of the sections. Samples were removed sequentially by abrasion, from the cementum surface to the cementum-dentine junction, and their fluoride content determined as described earlier. An electron microprobe with wavelength-dispersive x-ray spectrometry (WDS) was found to be useful for the determination of Ca concentrations in leaf tissue deficient in Ca. The aim of this study was to investigate the long-term effects of alloys containing silver (mainly Ag-Sn alloy) on oral mucous tissue.
