Integrated Physiological and Transcriptomic Analyses Reveal That Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Symbiosis Enhances Iron Stress Tolerance in Eucalyptus grandis.

Iron (Fe) is an essential micronutrient for plants. However, both iron deficiency and excess can severely inhibit plant growth and productivity. Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi have been shown to improve plant mineral nutrition and stress tolerance, yet the integrated physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying AM-mediated iron homeostasis regulation, particularly in woody tree species, remain poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the effects of inoculating Eucalyptus grandis seedlings with the AM fungus Rhizophagus irregularis on their growth, photosynthetic performance, a

Repeated exposure to eucalyptus wood smoke alters pulmonary gene and metabolic profiles in male Long-Evans rats.

Exposure to wildfire smoke is associated with both acute and chronic cardiopulmonary illnesses, which are of special concern for wildland firefighters who experience repeated exposure to wood smoke. It is necessary to better understand the underlying pathophysiology by which wood smoke exposure increases pulmonary disease burdens in this population. We hypothesize that wood smoke exposure produces pulmonary dysfunction, lung inflammation, and gene expression profiles associated with future pulmonary complications. Male Long-Evans rats were intermittently exposed to smoldering eucalyptus wood s

In silico and in vitro assessment of the eucalyptus wood vinegar impact on reproduction of ticks Rhipicephalus microplus (Acari: Ixodidae).

Responsible for significant livestock losses, especially in tropical and subtropical regions, the tick Rhipicephalus microplus represents one of the main challenges for cattle farming and requires control in herds. However, the inappropriate use of synthetic acaricides has led to the development of chemical resistance in parasites, potential environmental contamination, and residues in animal products intended for human consumption. The objective of this research was to integrate in silico approaches and in vitro studies of eucalyptus wood vinegar (WV) on the reproduction of the tick R. microp

Rapid and efficient separation of eucalyptus hemicellulose by synergistic catalysis of acid and ketone in α-ketoglutaric acid pretreatment.

The efficient catalytic hydrolysis and mitigation of unstable structural transitions in lignin are essential for the commercialization of organic acid pretreatment. A novel binary carboxylic acid pretreatment utilizing α-ketoglutaric acid (AKA) was developed, which exploits a distinctive ion-pair biomimetic catalytic mechanism along with the activation of the ketone group. Under optimal AKA pretreatment conditions (5 % acid concentration, 150 °C, 45 min), the hemicellulose separation yield reached 85.21 %. The rapid and efficient separation of eucalyptus hemicellulose results from the low pKa
