Currently, there are two classifications of neoplasia: one for human medicine and other for veterinary. We describe here a case of the sinus roundworm, Skrjabingylus chitwoodorum, found incidentally in a rabies-positive striped skunk (Mephitis mephitis) in Texas, USA. Skunks serve as a natural definitive host for this metastrongylid nematode in North America, in which infections result in observable damage to the host cranium, where adult parasites reside. Vomitus and anorexia is a frequent reason for presentation of cats at any age at the veterinarian. When an underlying ileus is suspected the risk of a neoplasia is considered to be high, especially in older patients. BACKGROUND: Atypical manifestations with a podal distribution have been occasionally reported in the USA, the UK and Israel in the early 2000s. The aim of this report was to present a case of epitheliotropic cutaneous lymphoma (mycosis fungoides) in a coati. The animal was presented for evaluation of a non-pruritic nodule.
