Elastographic Changes in Cervical Muscle Following Combined Radial Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy and Orthopedic Manual Therapy: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: Non-specific neck pain is associated with altered muscle mechanical properties, including increased stiffness. Radial extracorporeal shockwave therapy (rESWT) and orthopedic manual therapy (OMT) are commonly used interventions, although their combined effects on cervical muscle stiffness remain unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the short-term and within-session effects of adding rESWT to OMT on cervical muscle stiffness measured by means of shear wave elastography (SWE) in individuals with non-specific neck pain. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted including 24

Successful Treatment of a Nonunion Fracture of the Femur With Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy: An Evidence-Based Case Report.

Nonunion fractures, especially of the femur, pose a considerable difficulty in orthopedic management due to their propensity to result in enduring physical disability and psychological complications. Conventional surgical procedures, although efficacious, may entail difficulties and have a reduced success rate for atrophic nonunions. Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) has arisen as a viable non-invasive option, facilitating bone regeneration via many biological mechanisms. This case report describes the management of a 40-year-old male patient with a distal-third open femoral fracture res

An Early Trial-Based Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy for Diabetes Related Foot Ulcer Healing.

Diabetes related foot ulcers (DFUs) cause significant morbidity and mortality. Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a promising adjunct to promote healing. This study aimed to explore the potential cost-effectiveness of ESWT in DFU healing. Early model-based cost-effectiveness analysis was undertaken. A de novo four-state, 1-day cycle, Markov model was developed. The perspective for the analysis was the UK's National Health Service (NHS) and Personal Social Services over a 1-year time horizon. Input parameters were estimated from the literature. Low dose ESWT, high dose ESWT and standard

Low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy in the treatment of erectile dysfunction following radical prostatectomy: a critical review.

Low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (LI-ESWT) to the penis has recently emerged as novel therapeutic option in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). Randomized-controlled studies investigating the effect of this new treatment modality revealed promising results in men with vasculogenic ED. However, the efficacy of LI-ESWT in men who develop ED following radical prostatectomy (RP) remains obscure due to the exclusion of this group in nearly all clinical trials. In this review, the authors synthesize the findings from available preclinical and clinical studies that examine the p
