Adaptive AI-generated feedback in higher education: exploring associations with cognitive flexibility and academic psychological safety among engineering students.

BACKGROUND: Adaptive AI-generated feedback (AIF) is increasingly integrated into higher education; however, its cognitive and psychological implications remain insufficiently understood, particularly in engineering education. Grounded in feedback intervention theory and emotion regulation theory, this study developed and tested an integrative model examining the perceived relationships between AIF, cognitive flexibility (CF), and academic psychological safety (APS), including mediating and moderating patterns. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 471 engineering students. Dat

WADD-SEPD Consensus on Psychological Treatment of Dual Disorders I: General Recommendations, Most Used Therapies, and Severe Mental Disorders.

Background/Objectives: The treatment of dual disorders (DDs) must be comprehensive and multidisciplinary. There is evidence supporting the effectiveness of psychotherapy in their treatment. However, clinical guidelines, consensus statements, and reviews on the treatment of DDs typically devote considerably less space to psychological therapy than to pharmacological therapy. Therefore, this work aimed to synthesize the available evidence, recommendations, and clinical experience on the psychological treatment of DDs to reach a consensus. Methods: Two consensus methods were sequentially implemen

COVID-19 pandemic perceived impacts on the Australian general population, a national survey exploring the role of socio-demographic and psychological factors.

The COVID-19 pandemic and associated public health orders did not impact all population groups equally. We examined perceived pandemic impacts on daily life by socio-demographic and psychological factors. Participants, quota sampled by region, age and sex, completed a cross-sectional online survey between Oct 21st and Nov 10th 2020. COVID-19 impact categories (negative/same/positive) were compared by age and sex with chi-square tests. Associations between COVID-19 impacts and socio-demographic and psychological characteristics were examined with hierarchical regressions. COVID-19 impacts diffe

Prenatal psychological stress mediates vertical transmission of gut microbiome to the next generation affecting offspring depressive-like behaviors and neurotransmitter.

OBJECTIVE: Prenatal stress has been proven to be associated with dysbiosis of the gut microbiota. Despite the established phenomenon that psychological stress can be transmitted to offspring and the ability of maternal gut microbiota to colonize the offspring's gut through vertical transmission, the intricate relationships linking cross-generational depression with the microbiome remain poorly understood. METHODS: We utilized combined fear stress stimuli to establish a pregnancy psychological stress (PPS) rat model, in which offspring exhibited trans-generational depression-like behavior. The

Rumination and psychological resilience in Chinese civil aviation flight students: the chain mediating role of proactive coping and generalized anxiety disorder.

BACKGROUND: As the focus of aviation safety shifts from technology to human factors, the central role of psychological resilience in flight safety has become increasingly prominent. However, the internal mechanism of how rumination affects psychological resilience, particularly the chain mediating effect of proactive coping and generalized anxiety, has not been thoroughly explored in high-stress populations. METHODS: Employing a cross-sectional design, 1,235 flight students from the Civil Aviation Flight University of China were surveyed using the Ruminative Response Scale (RRS), Connor-David

Specific symptoms of the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) in predicting persistence of psychological distress: Data from two prospective cohort studies.

Persistent psychological distress is more harmful than transient psychological distress, but little is known about the development of persistent distress. We examined whether some specific symptoms of the 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) were more important than others in predicting the persistence of psychological distress over a 3-year follow-up period among individuals who had at least moderate psychological distress at baseline (GHQ≥3). Participants were from the UK Household Longitudinal Study (UKHLS; n = 6430) and British Household Panel Survey (BHPS; n = 5954). Sense of wor

Does psychological testing help to predict the response to acupuncture or massage/relaxation therapy in patients presenting to a general neurology clinic with headache?

Patients with chronic headache were offered treatment by acupuncture or massage with relaxation instead of a change in their prescribed medication. They were randomly allocated to either treatment. There was a significant improvement in pain ratings with both treatment types. Specifically a greater effect was seen in migraine patients treated by massage with relaxation when compared to acupuncture. No psychological factors were found to predict response to either treatment. At the end of the study, 13% of patients were significantly more worried that there may be a more serious cause underlyin

Measuring minds across generations: a theoretical framework on psychometric validity, interpretive frameworks, and contextual norming in cross-cohort psychological research.

BACKGROUND: Psychological research increasingly compares mental health outcomes across generations, with studies reporting elevated anxiety and depression in Generation Z and Alpha. Current instruments, interpretive frameworks, and normative standards were developed using language and contextual assumptions from earlier cohorts developing in distinct technological, economic, and social ecosystems. AIM: This Hypothesis and Theory article proposes to (i) evaluate measurement validity and interpretive framework issues in cross-generational research, (ii) analyze how contexts shape construct mean

INTRODUCTION: In the post-pandemic era, the world has witnessed profound transformations with economic, social, and lifestyle changes. In such a special period, Generation Z is also undergoing unique trials. While confronting multifaceted and complex challenges, they also have positive adaptations, including improved psychological capital (PSY) and core self-evaluations (CSE). As the life and academic satisfaction for Generation Z have become an increasingly critical issue for higher education, we wanted to seek new insight into the reasons which influence the life and academic satisfaction fo

Clinical Perfectionism in Anorexia Nervosa: Associations with Eating Disorders' Specific Symptomatology and General Psychological Symptoms in Italian Young Adult Women.

Background/Objectives: Existing literature has consistently identified perfectionism as a core feature of anorexia nervosa (AN). However, much of the research has focused primarily on its association with eating disorder-related symptoms. At the same time, less attention has been paid to understanding how perfectionism affects the overall psychological functioning of individuals with eating disorders, and in particular AN. The present study aimed at investigating the association between perfectionism and both eating disorder-specific symptomatology and general psychological symptoms in a sampl

Prenatal folate, homocysteine and vitamin B12 levels and child brain volumes, cognitive development and psychological functioning: the Generation R Study.

Previous studies have suggested that prenatal maternal folate deficiency is associated with reduced prenatal brain growth and psychological problems in offspring. However, little is known about the longer-term impact. The aims of this study were to investigate whether prenatal maternal folate insufficiency, high total homocysteine levels and low vitamin B12 levels are associated with altered brain morphology, cognitive and/or psychological problems in school-aged children. This study was embedded in Generation R, a prospective population-based cohort study. The study sample consisted of 256 Du

Culture-general and -specific associations of attachment avoidance and anxiety with perceived parental warmth and psychological control among Turk and Belgian adolescents.

Both the adolescent peer attachment and perceived parenting style literatures emphasize the role of the quality of the parent-child relationship in children's healthy adjustment beyond the family, but few studies have investigated links between adolescents' peer attachment and perceptions of parenting. We investigate relations of adolescents' perceptions of warmth and psychological control from parents with avoidance and anxiety in attachment to close friends in two contrasting cultures. Altogether, 262 Turk and 263 Belgian youth between 14 and 18 years of age participated. Cross-culturally, a

Psychological factors associated with Chinese users' adoption of AI-generated health education short videos: a PLS-SEM-ANN-IPMA study.

BACKGROUND: AI-generated health education short videos are becoming an important form of digital health communication. Compared with conventional health education content, these videos require users to evaluate not only the value of health information, but also the credibility of information sources, the trustworthiness of AI-generated content, and their own health-related psychological state. Therefore, it is necessary to further examine the psychological factors that influence users' adoption of AI-generated health information. METHODS: Drawing on the Information Adoption Model, this study
