UNLABELLED: The effectiveness of methanol and chloroform extracts of eight Cistaceae species to control citrus sour rot decay, caused by Geotrichum citri-aurantii, was investigated in both in vitro and in vivo conditions. Methanol extracts of these plant species exhibited more interesting activity against G. citri-aurantii, in both in vitro and in vivo conditions, compared with chloroforme extracts. We report the first case, to our knowledge, of Blastoschizomyces capitatus infection occurring in a patient receiving empirical echinocandin therapy for neutropenic fevers. Clinicians should consider B. capitatus infection in those neutropenic patients who remain febrile despite echinocandin therapy or who develop yeast bloodstream infections while receiving an echinocandin.

We studied 66 cases of intestinal mycosis and parasitosis in patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus with chronic diarrhea. The ribosomal Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) regions of the two recognized species of Coccidioides were studied using a reference set of strains that had been previously identified with species defining microsatellite polymorphisms.
