Green Light Antinociceptive and Reversal of Thermal and Mechanical Hypersensitivity Effects Rely on Endogenous Opioid System Stimulation.

Benefits of phototherapy were characterized in multiple diseases including depression, circadian rhythm disruptions, and neurodegeneration. Studies on migraine and fibromyalgia patients revealed that green light-emitting diodes (GLED) exposure provides a pragmatic and safe therapy to manage chronic pain. In rodents, GLED reversed hypersensitivity related to neuropathic pain. However, little is known about the underlying mechanisms of GLED efficacy. Here, we sought to understand how green light modulates the endogenous opioid system. We first characterized how exposure to GLED stimulates releas

Synthesis and characterization of a green-light-emitting (pbi-Br)2 Ir (acac) metal complex for OLEDs.

We designed and synthesized a 2-(4-bromophenyl)-1-phenyl-1H-benzimidazole (pbi-Br) ligand, which was then employed to create an innovative phosphorescent cyclometallated iridium(III) (pbi-Br)2 Ir(acac) metal complex with acetyl acetone as an ancillary ligand using the Suzuki coupling reaction. The complex was then characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)/differential thermal analysis (DTA) for structural and thermal analysis, respectively. XRD confirmed its amorphous nature and the FTIR spectrum revealed the molecu

Effects of 530 nm green light on refractive status, melatonin, MT1 receptor, and melanopsin in the guinea pig.

PURPOSE: To investigate (i) the effect of monochromatic light on inhibiting induction of light-induced melatonin and (ii) the roles of melanopsin and MT1 receptor in light-induced myopia in the guinea pig. METHODS: Forty-eight guinea pigs were randomly distributed into three treatment groups: white-light (control), green-light (530 nm), and blue-light (480 nm) groups. Levels of pineal gland melatonin were measured twice daily--10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.--10 days after initial light treatment. Thirty additional guinea pigs were also assigned to these groups and treated similarly. For these latt

Green Tea and Decaffeinated Light Roasted Green Coffee Extract Combination Improved Cardiac Insulin Resistance through Free Fatty Acids and Adiponectin/FAS Pathways Amelioration in Metabolic Syndrome Rat Model.

BACKGROUND: Insulin resistance has been independently associated with cardiac diseases. Free fatty acids (FFAs) are known to induce cardiac insulin resistance via low-grade inflammation. Therefore, lowering FFA levels may improve cardiac insulin resistance. This study investigated the effects of a combination of green tea and decaffeinated light-roasted green coffee extract on free fatty acid-induced cardiac insulin resistance by modulating the adiponectin/FAS pathways. METHODS: This study used 25 male Sprague-Dawley rats. Metabolic syndrome (MS) was induced using a high-fat, high-sucrose (HF

Cation-Mediated Low-Frequency Phonon Suppression in Lead-free Manganese Halides for High-efficiency Green Light-emitting Diodes.

Lead halide perovskites (LHPs) have emerged as promising materials in optoelectronics, yet concerns over lead toxicity drive the search for lead-free alternatives with efficient electroluminescence, especially in green-emitting applications. Here, the photophysical functions of A-site cations in manganese bromides are revealed, and design dimethylamino-functionalized A-site cations to modulate both phonon dynamics, film morphology, and energy level alignment, enabling unprecedented efficiency in solution-processed green-emitting lead-free metal halide devices. Light-Mediated Antibacterial Activity of Composites of Polypyrrole and Green Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles Synthesized using Sarcomphalus joazeiro Extract.

The preparation of zinc oxide nanoparticles and zinc oxide-polypyrrole (ZnONPs@PPy) composites can be considered a critical step for enhancement in the antibacterial activity of the synthesized material, established by its electrostatic interactions with the bacterial cell wall. Herein, the reported novelty is based on the biosynthesis of ZnONPs by Sarcomphalus joazeiro and their subsequent incorporation into a composite with polypyrrole for impregnation into cotton fibers, enabling their use in wound dressing applications. The samples were characterized using HPLC, FTIR, SEM, TEM, XRD, and UV

Green-Light-Triggered and Self-Calibrated Cascade Release of Nitric Oxide and Carbon Monoxide for Synergistic Glaucoma Therapy.

Glaucoma is an optic degenerative neuropathy that is driven by a vicious cycle of oxidative stress and mechanical stress. Current clinical treatments aim exclusively at alleviating mechanical stress by reducing the intraocular pressure (IOP). With the unattended oxidative stress, recurrence and deterioration of mechanical stress are inevitable. Nitric oxide (NO) and carbon monoxide (CO) are endogenous gaseous signaling molecules for vasodilation and anti-inflammation, respectively. Mounting evidence suggests an intricate interplay between NO and CO to mediate their biological roles, like how i

Green synthesis of novel Zn0.5Ni0.5FeCrO4 spinel magnetic nanoparticles: Photodegradation of 4-nitrophenol and aniline under visible light irradiation.

This study explores novel nanoparticles used in environmental remediation of 4-nitrophenol and aniline from wastewater bodies. The Zn0.5Ni0.5FeCrO4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were synthesized using tragacanth gel as a green, low-cost, and easy sol-gel method. The MNPs were characterized by XRD, XPS, FT-IR, VSM, TEM, EDX, FESEM, BET, DRS, and elemental mapping. The analysis demonstrated that nanoparticles have a spinel cubic structure, spatial distribution of the elements, ferromagnetic activity, narrow bandgap, and uniform morphology. Furthermore, effectiveness of the developed MNPs to degr

Urinary lumirubin excretion in jaundiced preterm neonates during phototherapy with blue light-emitting diode vs. green fluorescent lamp.

Phototherapy converts lipophilic unconjugated bilirubin to hydrophilic bilirubin photoisomers, such as lumirubin. We comparatively used a blue light-emitting diode (LED) and a green fluorescent lamp (FL) as light sources for phototherapy of hyperbilirubinemic preterm neonates with the aim of examining potential differences in urinary lumirubin excretion between these two wavelengths. Urinary lumirubin levels were measured using a fluorescence assay with blue light exposure in the presence of the unconjugated bilirubin-inducible fluorescent protein UnaG, and denoted as urinary UnaG-bound biliru

Gold(I) Multi-Resonance Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescent Emitters for Highly Efficient Ultrapure-Green Organic Light-Emitting Diodes.

Acceleration of singlet-triplet intersystem crossings (ISC) is instrumental in bolstering triplet exciton harvesting of multi-resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescent (MR-TADF) emitters. This work describes a simple gold(I) coordination strategy to enhance the spin-orbit coupling of green and blue BN(O)-based MR-TADF emitters, which results in a notable increase in rate constants of the spectroscopically observed ISC process to 3×109  s-1 with nearly unitary ISC quantum yields. Accordingly, the resultant thermally-stable AuI emitters attained large values of delayed fluorescence radia

Green Light Exposure Elicits Anti-inflammation, Endogenous Opioid Release and Dampens Synaptic Potentiation to Relieve Post-surgical Pain.

Light therapy improves multiple conditions such as seasonal affective disorders, circadian rhythm dysregulations, and neurodegenerative diseases. However, little is known about its potential benefits in pain management. While current pharmacologic methods are effective in many cases, the associated side effects can limit their use. Non-pharmacological methods would minimize drug dependence, facilitating a reduction of the opioid burden. Green light therapy has been shown to be effective in reducing chronic pain in humans and rodents. However, its underlying mechanisms remain incompletely defin

Topical application of green and white tea extracts provides protection from solar-simulated ultraviolet light in human skin.

BACKGROUND: Tea polyphenols have been found to exert beneficial effects on the skin via their antioxidant properties. AIMS: We sought to determine whether topical application of green tea or white tea extracts would prevent simulated solar radiation-induced oxidative damages to DNA and Langerhans cells that may lead to immune suppression and carcinogenesis. METHODS: Skin samples were analysed from volunteers or skin explants treated with white tea or green tea after UV irradiation. In another group of patients, the in vivo immune protective effects of green and white tea were evaluated using

Near infrared light enhanced a green vitamin Cu/Co@MOF laccase-like nanozyme activity for estrogen colorimetric detection.

The development of a bimetallic metal-organic framework (Cu/Co@MOF) is presented using copper and cobalt as central ions and vitamin B6 as the green ligand through a straightforward microwave digestion technique that act as potent laccase mimics, specifically designed for estrogen (including estriol, estradiol, and diethylstilbestrol) sensing. A newly designed Cu/Co@MOF nanozyme probe exhibits significantly improved laccase-mimicking activity and photothermal efficiency when exposed to near-infrared (NIR) light. Experimental investigations elucidated that NIR promoted the activation of molecul

Exposure to green space, nighttime light, air pollution, and noise and cardiovascular disease risk: A prospective cohort study.

Current literature lacks information regarding impacts of green spaces on susceptibility to cardiovascular disease (CVD) related to harmful environmental exposures. The UK Biobank cohort study was utilized to investigate whether green spaces can mitigate risks associated with air pollutants, nighttime light, noise, and traffic intensity. Latent Profile Analysis was performed on green spaces and adverse environmental exposures in order to assess individual level exposure. Cox proportional risk models were employed to calculate hazard ratios for the risk of cerebrovascular diseases related to in

Green Light-Activated Single-Component Organic Fluorescence-Based Nano-Drug Delivery System for Dual Uncaging of Anticancer Drugs.

Developing green or red light-activated drug delivery systems (DDSs) for cancer treatment is highly desirable. Herein, we have reported a green light-responsive single component-based organic fluorescence nano-DDS by simply anchoring 2-hydroxy-6-naphthacyl (phototrigger) on both sides of the 1,5-diaminonaphthalene (DAN) chromophore. This green light (λ ≥ 500 nm)-activated DDS released two equivalents of the anticancer drug (valproic acid) in a spatio-temporally controlled manner. Our photoresponsive DDS [DAN-bis(HO-Naph-VPA)] exhibited interesting properties such as excited-state intramolecula
