Pediatric cases of Spigelian hernias are rare. Only a few reports on this condition, in combination with ipsilateral cryptorchidism and testis in the hernia sac, have been published. We report on Spigelian hernia in a 3-week-old boy containing both the ipsilateral testis, without a gubernaculum and an incarcerated loop of the small intestine. It has been suggested that the combination of Spigelian hernia and ipsilateral cryptorchidism is part of a new syndrome. Impaired testicular descent (cryptorchidism) is one of the most frequent congenital abnormalities in humans, involving 2% of male births. Cryptorchidism can result in infertility and increases risk for development of germ-cell tumours. A case of pubopenile testis and a case of perineal ectopic testis are presented. The mechanism of descensus is largely positive, possibly facilitated by raised intra-abdominal pressure. The testis is usually guided by the gubernaculum and ectopia results from gubernacular failure. The ectopic testis is relatively rare but is easily recognized and treated by orchiopexy.

Perineal testis is a very rare congenital anomaly. Since the first case of the disease reported by John Hunter in 1786, more than 113 cases have been reported in the English literature, and 13 cases have been reported in the Japanese literature. PURPOSE: Perineal ectopic testis is seen very rarely and here we report on two patients with perineal ectopic testis.
METHODS/RESULTS: We experienced two cases of perineal ectopic testis on which orchiopexies to the corresponding hemiscrotums were performed.

Protostrongylus (Pulmostrongylus) pulmonalis from Lepus europaeus in Italy (Alto Adige) was studied. Most of the parasite population showed the typical morphology described for this species. Variations observed in the morphological features of gubernaculum, antero-lateral ray and telamon are considered to lie within the range of variability of the species. This is the first record of Protostrongylus (Pul.) pulmonalis in hares in Italy.

In the present study, we described and illustrated Aplectana minaensis n. sp. (Ascaridida: Cosmocercidae) from the intestinal caecum of Amphisbaena alba Linnaeus (Squamata: Amphisbaenidae).
