A method for the direct transformation of ketones and aldehydes into cyclopropanes is described. This chemistry exploits the ability of titanocene methylidene unveiled from Tebbe's reagent to mediate carbonyl methylenation and subsequently generate a titanacyclobutane from the incipient alkene. This labile titanium heterocycle is then reacted in situ with iodine to trigger cyclopropane ring formation. The synthetic utility of this method was demonstrated by preparing the azaspiro[2.5]heptane fragment of ledipasvir in a single step.

The values of lipidemia were studied, by comparing with the levels of lipid peroxidation products and the state of antioxidant defense in patients with atheromatosis of the celiac trunk. A group of patients with ischemic enterocolonopathies showed a trend for the level of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol to increase as compared with abnormalities at other sites. In patients with ischemic gastropathies, the levels of heptane-soluble ketodienes and conjugated trienes were higher than those in patients with pancreatopathies and enterocolonopathies.

Storage of a great amount of plum kernel waste becomes a challenge for food industry. In this work, the plum seed was used as a source of fixed oil that can be an ingredient of commercial products. This report describes a sensitive gas chromatographic procedure for the measurement of trifluoperazine in human plasma. Trifluoperazine was extracted into heptane-2-propanol by a two-step procedure and analyzed directly without derivatization. Prochlorperazine was employed as an internal standard because its structural and extraction characteristics were similar to trifluoperazine. The use of a nitrogen detection system reduced the number of interfering peaks. The within-day coefficient of variation in the methods, over a 0.2-20-ng/ml concentration range was 9.4%.
