Polyethylenimine (PEI)-modified poly (lactic-co-glycolic) acid (PLGA) nanoparticles conjugated with tumor-homing bacteria facilitate high intensity focused ultrasound-mediated tumor ablation.

The acoustic propagation characteristic of ultrasound determines that the energy of ultrasound beam will decrease with the increase of its propagation depth in the body. Similarly, the energy of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) will be attenuated with the increase of HIFU propagation depth in the body. Ensuring sufficient ultrasound energy deposition in the HIFU ablation region for tumor ablation is usually achieved by increasing the ultrasound irradiation power or prolonging the ultrasound ablation time. However, these two methods may damage the normal tissue adjacent to the HIFU abla

20-MHz high-intensity focused ultrasound for tattoo removal without pigment-specific optical targeting and with evidence for an ablation-associated transepidermal extrusion pathway.

INTRODUCTION: Radiotherapy tattoos can impose a cosmetic burden, while laser removal requires selection of optical wavelengths according to the absorption characteristics of individual tattoo pigments. We evaluated a handheld 20 MHz high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) device as a potential non-optical approach to reducing red, black, and blue tattoo pigments. METHODS: Thermal injury zone (TIZ) geometry was characterized ex vivo in avian muscle and full-thickness porcine skin tissue. Rat dot tattoos (red/black/blue) received a single-session exposure (10 shots; 6 W, 1,000 ms) and were fol

New prospects for high-intensity focused ultrasound ablation in the treatment of uterine arteriovenous fistula associated with retained products of conception: A retrospective cohort study.

Uterine arteriovenous fistula (UAVF), characterized by abnormal connections between uterine arteries and veins, can cause life-threatening hemorrhage and poses significant challenges for fertility preservation in reproductive-age women. Conventional treatments, including hysteroscopy and uterine artery embolization, remain suboptimal due to risks of intraoperative bleeding, uterine ischemia, and postoperative adhesions. This study evaluated the efficacy and reproductive outcomes of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) as a noninvasive alternative. A retrospective cohort of 49 reproductive-

US-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) of abdominal tumors: outcome, early ablation-related laboratory changes and inflammatory reaction. A single-center experience from Germany.

INTRODUCTION: High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is an innovative noninvasive procedure for local ablation of different benign and malignant tumors. Preliminary data of animal studies suggest an ablation-associated immune response after HIFU that is induced by cell necrosis and release of intracellular components. The aim of this study is to evaluate if a HIFU-induced early sterile inflammatory reaction is initiated after ablation of uterine fibroids (UF) and pancreatic carcinoma (PaC) which might contribute to the therapeutic effect. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A hundred patients with PaC an
