The whole genome sequence data of a thermotolerant bacterium, Pseudobacillus badius strain WCB-1, isolated from acidic hot spring sediment at Kawah Putih, West Java, Indonesia. The isolate was obtained using culture-based methods and initially identified by 16S rRNA gene sequencing, followed by a whole genome-based taxonomic analysis. Eight different hot springs (SPA) in Greece were monitored over a one-year survey for priority pesticide residues. A specific and effective procedure including solid phase extraction in combination with HPLC and GC analytical methods were applied. Past studies have shown that the hot spring effect can promote wound healing. Mild thermal stimulation and metal ions can promote angiogenesis. Primary amoebic meningoencephalitis due to Naegleria fowleri was found in a 38-year-old Chinese man living in Hong Kong who presumably acquired the infection from swimming in a hot spring in neighbouring China. Amoebic cysts were identified in tissue taken from a brain abscess. The patient responded to surgical drainage and a 6-week course of amphotericin B, rifampicin and chloramphenicol. This is one of 6 cases of successful treatment of primary amoebic meningoencephalitis documented in the medical literature.
