Pharmacological characterization of a simple behavioral response mediated selectively by central adenosine A1 receptors, using in vivo and in vitro techniques.

The behavioral profile of a range of adenosine receptor ligands was examined in rats using a locomotor activity model. Adenosine receptor agonists, including the selective A1 receptor agonist, N6-cyclopentyladenosine (CPA) and the A2A agonist, 2-[(2-aminoethylamino)carbonylethyl-phenylethylamino]- 5'-ethylcarboxa midoadenosine (APEC), reduced spontaneous motor activity in a dose-dependent manner. CPA-induced locomotor depression was attenuated by adenosine A1 receptor selective antagonists, such as 8-cyclopentyl-1,3-dipropylxanthine (DPCPX), (R)-1-[(E)-3-(2-phenylpyrazolo[1, 5-a]pyridin-3-yl)-

Comparative Evaluation of the Fracture Resistance of Fractured Teeth Reattached Using Different Preparation and Restoration Techniques: An In Vitro Study.

INTRODUCTION: The restoration of fractured anterior teeth remains a clinical challenge because an ideal technique should preserve tooth structure while providing adequate mechanical strength and esthetic outcomes. Although fragment reattachment is a conservative approach, various preparation designs have been proposed to improve fracture resistance, and evidence comparing their performance remains limited. Our aim was to evaluate and compare the fracture resistance of Ellis Class II fractured maxillary central incisors restored using bevel preparation, single groove preparation, double-groove

Descriptive Analysis of In Vitro Cutting of Swine Mitral Cusps: Comparison of High-Power Laser and Scalpel Blade Cutting Techniques.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The most common injury to the heart valve with rheumatic involvement is mitral stenosis, which is the reason for a big number of cardiac operations in Brazil. Commissurotomy is the traditional technique that is still widely used for this condition, although late postoperative restenosis is concerning. This study's purpose was to compare the histological findings of porcine cusp mitral valves treated in vitro with commissurotomy with a scalpel blade to those treated with high-power laser (HPL) cutting, using appropriate staining techniques. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fiv

In vitro tensile bond strength of denture repair acrylic resins to primed base metal alloys using two different processing techniques.

PURPOSE: Approximately 38% of removable partial denture (RPD) failures involve fracture at the alloy/acrylic interface. Autopolymerizing resin is commonly used to repair RPDs. Poor chemical bonding of repair acrylic to base metal alloys can lead to microleakage and failure of the bond. Therefore, ideal repair techniques should provide a strong, adhesive bond. This investigation compared the tensile bond strength between cobalt-chromium (Super Cast, Pentron Laboratory Technologies, Llc., Wallingford, CT) and nickel-chromium (Rexalloy, Pentron Laboratory Technologies, Llc.) alloys and autopolyme

This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of emerging and widely used encapsulation strategies, and pharmacokinetics of free naringin, with focus on in-vivo studies. Naringin's poor bioavailability, variable biocompatibility of encapsulating carriers, and limited clinical pharmacokinetic evidence are the major constraints to its potential translational application. Additionally, its poor solubility, absorption, stability, and bitterness are limiting its clinical and functional food applications. However, various encapsulation methodologies and carriers including polymeric nanoparticles, lip

In vitro and in vivo comparison of immunoliposomes made by conventional coupling techniques with those made by a new post-insertion approach.

Ligand-targeted liposomes have the potential to increase the therapeutic efficacy of antineoplastic agents. Recently, a combinatorial approach to the preparation of ligand-targeted liposomes has been developed, termed the post-insertion technique, which will facilitate the production of targeted liposomes. In this paper, Stealth immunoliposomes (SIL) coupled to anti-CD19 made by either a conventional coupling technique (SIL[anti-CD19]), or by the post-insertion technique (PIL[anti-CD19], were compared with respect to their in vitro binding and cytotoxicity and their ability to improve in vivo

Effect of different impression techniques on marginal integrity of CAD-CAM milled all-on-four mandibular frameworks: an in vitro study.

BACKGROUND: To guarantee a passive fit, full arch implant supported prostheses require scrupulous impressions. The accuracy of conventional and digital impressions is still up for debate, despite several studies comparing both acquisition techniques. The present study aimed to compare mandibular full arch implant impressions by assessing the vertical misfit of implant supported frameworks obtained through conventional and digital impressions. METHODS: To simulate the "All-on-4" scenario, a completely edentulous epoxy mandibular reference model was prepared with the installment of two straight

Heavy metal migration from dental filling materials to calcified oral tissues: an in vitro analysis using LIBS and ICP-MS techniques.

This study used ICP-MS and LIBS techniques to assess element migration in healthy, caries-prone, and dental treatment materials in human teeth. The researchers also analyzed the accumulation of significant minerals and toxic elements in calcified tissues. The laser drilling process was monitored in vitro using spectral measurements of the ablated plasma. This study found that while non-mineralizing elements and organic materials increased in concentration, the shift from caries to healthy tooth material was distinguished by a decrease in calcium and phosphorus concentrations. The migration of

Ruminal fermentation characteristics and related feeding values of compound feeds and their constituting single feeds studied by using in vitro techniques.

Single concentrate feeds are mixed together forming compound feeds for cattle. However, knowledge regarding the potential interactions (associative effects) between the feeding values of single feeds in compound feeds is lacking. The main objective of the present study was to evaluate ruminal fermentation characteristics and feeding values of eight industrially produced compound feeds in mash form from their constituent single feeds for dairy cows through in vitro assays. Additivity was given for gas production (GP), digestibility of organic matter (dOM) and utilisable CP at the duodenum (uCP)

Tissue-specific elevated genomic cytosine methylation levels are associated with an overgrowth phenotype of bovine fetuses derived by in vitro techniques.

Epigenetic perturbations are assumed to be responsible for abnormalities observed in fetuses and offspring derived by in vitro techniques. We have designed an experiment with bovine Day 80 fetuses generated by somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT), in vitro fertilization (IVF), and artificial insemination (AI) to determine the relationship between fetal phenotype and genome-wide 5-methylcytosine (5mC) content. When compared with AI controls, SCNT and IVF fetuses displayed significantly increased body weight (61% and 28%), liver weight (100% and 36%), and thorax circumference (20% and 11%). A re

Toxicity studies and anti-arthritic effect of mandelic acid (2-hydroxy -2-phenyl acetic acid) using in vitro and in vivo techniques.

The major concern to search for new anti-arthritic drugs is primarily to prevent systemic complications and to maintain quality of life. As these drugs are prescribed for long duration so the objective is to ensure their safety in terms of toxicity. By keeping in view this concept, the present study was investigated to determine new anti-arthritic potential using in-vitro and in-vivo methods. The in-vitro tests comprised of protein denaturation (BSA and egg albumin) and Human Red Blood cell (HRBC) membrane stabilization assays at 50-6400μg/mL, for in-vivo testing, formaldehyde-induced arthriti
