Passive transfer of photosensitivity by intradermal injection of vesiculobullous lupus erythematosus serum and ultraviolet light irradiation in the guinea pig.

To study the effect of ultraviolet light (UVL) exposure on the pathogenesis of vesiculobullous lupus erythematosus (VBLE), the back of depilated Strain 2 female guinea pigs was injected with sera from 2 patients with VBLE, 3 patients with non-bullous systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (disease control) and 4 normal human adults (normal control). Normal saline was also used as an additional control. Of the 20 injected areas, only half (10) were then irradiated with one minimal erythema dose of UVB (310 nm). The clinical and histologic features of the areas injected with VBLE sera and then irrad

Nerve Block-Assisted Intradermal Injection of Tranexamic Acid, Vitamin C, and Glutathione for Melasma: A Split-Face Comparative Study.

BACKGROUND: Melasma is a common acquired pigmentary disorder characterized by symmetrical hyperpigmented macules. However, combination therapy using tranexamic acid (TXA), vitamin C, and glutathione under nerve block remains inadequate. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of intradermal injection of TXA, vitamin C, and glutathione under nerve block for melasma treatment. METHODS: A prospective, split-face trial was conducted on 20 patients with melasma during November 2023-July 2024. Lidocaine cream was applied to one side of the face, while infraorbital and zygomaticofacial nerve

Comprehensive assessment of intradermal responses to hyaluronic acid-based skin injection fillers through multi-pathway dynamic synergies.

Skin injection filling products must undergo a rigorous evaluation before entering the market, and intradermal reactions are crucial for biocompatibility. However, current evaluation methods for skin injection fillers often lack precision. This study aims to explore a comprehensive evaluation method by incorporating additional indicators: dermoscopy, transepidermal water loss, moisture content, ultrasound, and histological observation. Experimental findings show sodium hyaluronate gel groups exhibited no noticeable erythema or abnormalities, except for skin swelling. The dynamic and quantitati

Induction of potent antitumor immunity by intradermal DNA injection using a novel needle-free pyro-drive jet injector.

The current success of mRNA vaccines against COVID-19 has highlighted the effectiveness of mRNA and DNA vaccinations. Recently, we demonstrated that a novel needle-free pyro-drive jet injector (PJI) effectively delivers plasmid DNA into the skin, resulting in protein expression higher than that achieved with a needle syringe. Here, we used ovalbumin (OVA) as a model antigen to investigate the potential of the PJI for vaccination against cancers. Intradermal injection of OVA-expression plasmid DNA into mice using the PJI, but not a needle syringe, rapidly and greatly augmented OVA-specific CD8+

Protective immunity induced by concurrent intradermal injection of porcine circovirus type 2 and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae inactivated vaccines in pigs.

Vaccines against porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (Mhp) are routinely used by intramuscular injection. However, since intramuscular vaccination causes stress and increases the risk of cross-contamination among pigs, research on intradermal vaccination is currently being actively conducted. This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of intradermally administered inactivated vaccines against PCV2 and Mhp in pigs. Three-week-old specific pathogen-free pigs were divided into three groups (5 pigs per group). Pigs in the two groups were intradermally vaccinated wit

Molecular and Cellular Dynamics in the Skin, the Lymph Nodes, and the Blood of the Immune Response to Intradermal Injection of Modified Vaccinia Ankara Vaccine.

New vaccine design approaches would be greatly facilitated by a better understanding of the early systemic changes, and those that occur at the site of injection, responsible for the installation of a durable and oriented protective response. We performed a detailed characterization of very early infection and host response events following the intradermal administration of the modified vaccinia virus Ankara as a live attenuated vaccine model in non-human primates. Integrated analysis of the data obtained from in vivo imaging, histology, flow cytometry, multiplex cytokine, and transcriptomic a

Positron lymphography: multimodal, high-resolution, dynamic mapping and resection of lymph nodes after intradermal injection of 18F-FDG.

UNLABELLED: The lymphatic system plays a critical role in the maintenance of healthy tissues. Its function is an important indicator of the presence and extent of disease. In oncology, metastatic spread to local lymph nodes (LNs) is a strong predictor of poor outcome. Clinical methods for the visualization of LNs involve regional injection and tracking of (99m)Tc-sulfur colloid ((99m)Tc-SC) along with absorbent dyes. Intraoperatively, these techniques suffer from the requirement of administration of multiple contrast media ((99m)Tc-SC and isosulfan blue), unwieldy γ-probes, and a short effecti

Intradermal injection of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) in patients with metastatic melanoma recruits dendritic cells.

Dendritic cells (DCs) are the main antigen-presenting cells in the skin. We hypothesized that intradermal (i.d.) injection of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) would recruit DCs into melanoma skin metastases and enhance autologous melanoma antigen presentation to host T cells. Sixteen patients with cutaneous or subcutaneous melanoma metastases were treated with GM-CSF injected i.d. into a single dermal metastasis and into a normal skin site for 10 consecutive days at one of four dose levels (10, 20, 40, or 80 microg/injection). Pretreatment and post-treatment skin and t

Analysis of the wheal-and-flare reactions that follow the intradermal injection of histamine and morphine in adults with recurrent, unexplained anaphylaxis and systemic mastocytosis.

It has been suggested that patients with recurrent, unexplained anaphylaxis may be more responsive, and patients with systemic mastocytosis, less responsive, to mast cell-derived mediators, including histamine, compared to normal subjects. This would help explain why patients with recurrent, unexplained anaphylaxis have an anaphylactic response and, conversely, why patients with systemic mastocytosis can tolerate high levels of plasma histamine. To test this hypothesis, intradermal titrations (0.02 ml of solution from 1 ng/ml to 2 micrograms/ml) of histamine and morphine sulfate (MS) (10 ng/ml

A Rift Valley fever vaccine trial: 2. Serological response to booster doses with a comparison of intradermal versus subcutaneous injection.

A booster dose of a formalin-inactivated, cell culture-propagated Rift Valley fever vaccine (TSI-GSD-200) was administered without significant reactogenicity to 60 volunteers 18 months after they received a three dose primary series. Blood was drawn for serological testing prior to boosting and 10, 49, and 180 days thereafter. Neutralizing antibody response was prompt, being maximum on day 10 and considerably higher than the peak titres obtained on day 42 after the initial series. A marked decline in antibody titres was evident by day 180, as seen for the primary series, but residual titres we

Intradermal Microdroplet Injection of Standard-Diluted Incobotulinumtoxin A for the Treatment of Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea: A Study From a Dermatology Center in Medellín, Colombia.

BACKGROUND: Most previous studies of botulinum toxin A (BoNT/A) use for rosacea have reported using hyperdiluted BoNT/A. Different dilutions than the standard practiced dilution for wrinkle treatment result in confusion, especially if there is more than one injector in an office because daily logistics become complicated. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the use of intradermal injections of incobotulinumtoxin A (INCO) in the standard dilution used for wrinkle treatment (100U vial in 2cc) for the treatment of erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR). METHODS: Data from 13 patie

Cellular pathology changes in rat skin following intradermal injection of nerve growth factor: neutrophil-dependent and -independent events.

Nerve growth factor (NGF) regulates the survival and development of specific populations of neurones and is involved in wound healing. A further area of study relating to the role of neurotrophins in the mature animal has concerned the possibility that NGF may be a pivotal mediator of inflammation and pain. It has previously been shown that injection of intradermal NGF can result in a neutrophil-dependent hyperalgesia in the rat. The purpose of the present study was to examine the pathological consequence of NGF injected intradermally into mature rat skin and to examine further the role of neu
