One Virus, Four Continents, Eight Countries: An Interdisciplinary and International Study on the Psychosocial Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic among Adults.

The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic brought about several features that increased the sense of fear and confusion, such as quarantine and financial losses among other stressors, which may have led to adverse psychosocial outcomes. The influence of such stressors took place within a broader sociocultural context that needs to be considered. The objective was to examine how the psychological response to the pandemic varied across countries and identify which risk/protective factors contributed to this response. An online survey was conducted from 29 May 2020-12 June 2020, amon

Efficacy of an interdisciplinary pathway in a first level trauma center orthopaedic unit: A prospective study of a cohort of elderly patients with hip fractures.

BACKGROUND: hip fracture has negative consequences for elderly people. Alternative models of care, with respect to traditional model, were developed to minimize complications and improve functional outcomes. The interdisciplinary model in orthopaedic wards has less evidence of efficacy compared to orthogeriatric units. OBJECTIVE: to compare the efficacy (in-hospital outcomes, mortality, functional status at 6 months after discharge) of an interdisciplinary pathway, based on comprehensive geriatric assessment, compared to a traditional model of care, in hip-fractured elderly patients. DESIGN:

Deep phenotyping of suicidal ideation after discharge from psychiatric inpatient care: study protocol for an interdisciplinary, multicentre prospective observational study in Psychiatric University Hospitals.

INTRODUCTION: Suicidal thoughts and behaviours (STB) are a critical public health concern, with 700 000 deaths by suicide each year. The period immediately following hospital discharge is associated with an elevated risk for suicide. Monitoring suicidal ideations throughout this period is therefore critical. However, its highly dynamic nature limits the utility of traditional risk assessments through infrequent outpatient visits. Recent advancements in ambulatory assessments and multimodal predictive approaches offer a promising new avenue. Hence, the present study aims to examine how psycholo

Intravenous L-5-hydroxytryptophan in normal subjects: an interdisciplinary precursor loading study. Part IV: Effects on body temperature and cardiovascular functions.

In 14 healthy subjects the effect of a new soluble 1-5HTP ester (Ro 3-5940) in combination with a peripheral decarboxylase inhibitor on circulatory variables and body temperature was studied. The orthostatic adaptative functions were impaired while no consistent changes were observed in resting parameters. With the exception of an initial rise during infusion, measurements of oral temperature in the group as a whole showed no significant changes. However, if gender was considered, a long-lasting fall of temperature in males (N = 7) and rise in females (n = 6) was observed. The greatest differe

Alleviating academic stress and enhancing interdisciplinary self-efficacy in university libraries: an exploratory mixed-methods study on restorative built-environment interventions.

BACKGROUND: In the digital intelligence era, higher education students-especially those in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields-face widespread academic stress, cognitive rigidity, and negative emotional rumination. Traditional psychological interventions are often confined to clinical counseling and questionnaire screenings, which can easily induce a sense of stigma and pathological labeling. Exploring non-invasive, routine physical built-environment interventions is therefore of significant academic value and practical urgency. As a campus "third space," the univer

Interdisciplinary Approach to Diagnostic Challenges: A Case Study of Cardiac Amyloid Light-Chain (AL) Amyloidosis, Multiple Myeloma, and Ductal Carcinoma In Situ.

Amyloid light-chain (AL) amyloidosis is a disorder caused by abnormal plasma cells, and it may develop either as a primary disease or as a secondary condition associated with multiple myeloma. Due to the absence of specific clinical symptoms, its diagnosis is often challenging. Here, we present a case of cardiac amyloidosis secondary to multiple myeloma, incidentally complicated by ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). Although the breast cancer was diagnosed as stage 0 (DCIS), the patient's heart failure symptoms worsened following surgical resection. As a result, further evaluation by the cardiol

Feedback on audit and action planning for dental caries control: a qualitative study to investigate the acceptability among interdisciplinary pediatric dental care teams.

INTRODUCTION: American Indian and Alaska Native children suffer from the poorest oral health of all populational groups in the United States. Evidence-based practices (EBP) for caries control are well established, but systematically implementing such practices have proven difficult. Audit and feedback with goal setting, and action planning to implement these EBPs have not been tested or adapted for Alaska Native healthcare settings. The aim of this study was to investigate acceptability and perceived feasibility of an audit and feedback intervention for pediatric dental caries control among de

Current management guidelines for ascending thoracic aortic aneurysms (aTAA) recommend intervention once ascending or sinus diameter reaches 5-5.5 cm or shows a growth rate of >0.5 cm/year estimated from echo/CT/MRI. However, many aTAA dissections (aTAAD) occur in vessels with diameters below the surgical intervention threshold of <55 mm. Moreover, during aTAA repair surgeons observe and experience considerable variations in tissue strength, thickness, and stiffness that appear not fully explained by patient risk factors. To improve the understanding of aTAA pathophysiology, we established a m
