Necrotic testicular tumors are relatively frequent and can present a significant diagnostic challenge. Because of differing treatments for seminomas versus nonseminomas, accurate diagnosis is critical. Intratarsal keratinous cysts are uncommonly reported entities that originate within the tarsal plate. Previously reported cysts have always been solitary, whether primary or recurrent. The authors present an unusual case of a 50-year-old man with 11 intratarsal keratinous cysts on a single eyelid. Complete excision of all the cysts was curative for at least 2 months.

The aim of this study was to culture human urothelium and generate enough cells for subsequent reconstructive surgery. Using a modification of the Rheinwald-Green method for the routine culture of keratinocytes from patients with burns, we successfully cultured 91% of 57 biopsies from the renal pelvis, ureter, bladder and urethra of paediatric patients. The permeability of porcine skin, gingiva, floor of mouth and buccal mucosa was measured in perfusion chambers using isotopically-labelled water and horseradish peroxidase. Values obtained for the permeability of the epithelium of each of these regions, after separation from the connective tissue with EDTA, did not differ significantly from those obtained for the intact tissue; however, the connective tissue alone had a permeability 2-8 times greater than that of the whole tissue. Stripping the surface layers of the floor of mouth mucosa increased its permeability to that of connective tissue.
