INTRODUCTION: Patients with hoarseness of voice, previous neck operation, or suspicion of malignancy are at high risk of having pre-thyroidectomy vocal cord (VCP) palsy. Therefore, vocal cord (VC) functions should be evaluated before surgery. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of hoarseness, a voice-related questionnaire (Voice Handicap Index [VHI]-30), and transcutaneous laryngeal ultrasound (TLUSG) in diagnosing VCP, as well as the role of TLUSG in the evaluation of high-risk patients.

Endotracheal intubation is a vital component of many rat in vivo experiments to secure the airway and allow controlled ventilation. The present study investigated the clinical characteristics and diagnosis of modern laryngeal tuberculosis (TB). A total of 61 patients that were pathologically diagnosed with laryngeal TB between 1998 and 2012 were retrospectively analyzed using laryngoscopy methods. The primary symptoms of laryngeal TB observed in the present study include hoarseness and sore throat, and in the majority of cases, laryngeal TB was not associated with pulmonary TB (ratio 41/61, 67.2%). OBJECTIVES: The gastro-esophageal reflux disease is responsible of oto-rhino-laryngological symptoms included dysphonia. We studied the relationship between reflux disease and dysphonia. The research for the prevalence of reflux disease, in a dysphonic population, has been performed by a clinical and laryngoscopic survey.
METHODS: 175 patients were included prospectively. Each patient replies to the questionnaire and see the physician to do a laryngoscopic examination during the same time. A physician jury sees all videos to determine gastro-oesophagial reflux disease laryngoscopic signs.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the importance and preventive measure of vocal scar after fiber laryngoscope surgery.
METHOD: The preventive measures such as treatment of the pathogeny, voice exercise, adjustment of operative skill, vocal rest after operation and drug treatment for vocal scars in 350 patients with polyps of vocal cord, vocal nodules and vocal cyst after fiber laryngoscope surgery were adopted in order to reduce the rate of vocal scar. The rate of vocal scar was calculated and analysed to evaluate the effect of preventive measures two month later.

BACKGROUND: The GlideScope Video Laryngoscope is a new intubating device. It was designed to provide a view of the glottis without alignment of the oral, pharyngeal and tracheal axes.
